Optimizing Character Counter Picks

Fox/Marth probably. Maybe more realistically Falco/Marth. But in theory I think Fox/Marth is optimal. Sheik counters a ton of characters and has a under rated match up against falco not to mention she reks a bunch of mid tiers Falcon/Samus/Pika so you could probably match her with a spacie and call it coverage.

I'm a spacie main in total, used to be a Fox/Marth and then a Fox/Sheik. I asked Fiction about his idea behind a secondary since I knew I wanted to stick with Fox, and he said that matchups like Peach/Marth/Chu on FD are certainly possible for spacies (not to mention there are counterpicks).

I think that Fox/Falco (I hate the Fox ditto lmao) combination is pretty strong but in theory Fox/Sheik is the best combination.

Sheik/Marth is the most realistic, IMO. Both of these characters are significantly easier to be consistent with at top level than spacies and cover each other's weak MUs almost seamlessly. Marth, in all likelihood, soft counters Fox at peak human play and definitely doesn't go worse than even vs. Falco. Sheik literally counters or goes even with everyone else in the game with the exception of Ice Climbers (whom Marth beats) and minor soft countering from spacies (who you can just go Marth against).

To put in perspective how dangerous this combo is, look at M2K: the man has remained a top 5 threat in Melee for over 7 years [primarily] going Marth/Sheik even though he has been credited for having one of the most rudimentary neutral games and worst mindsets of the top level players.
