Wanna know how? Quit speaking for the rest of the playstyle. Quit referring to your points with the words we, us, and our. You as an individual don't have the right to speak for the rest of the people who follow your playstyle.

Basically?

Hypnotist is NOT every competitive player in the world, and the casual player is not represented by one man or woman. I am sick and tired of the inevitable grouping in a vain attempt to prove a point.

I fly solo. In all seriousness though, that's how all this mess starts. The only way to prevent it, (because obviously being hush-hush about it is not going to cut the pie) is to quit grouping the rest of the people who play a certain way, together. Although certain elements are the same in each individual, the overall mindset is not.

I play casually and competitively; I can speak for myself. Don't group me in with everyone else; I don't necessarily carry the same mindset that others may.

Good point; However...

You have to remember that most of the people here are 14-16 and trying to convey a point without stereotypes and generalizations is really tough to do for this selective group of people.

Age should not matter, actually. You're only proving they're too childish to be on the internet that way, which isn't always true.

Isn't that a bit ironic that you're stereotyping and generalising the age group to prove that point though? >.> There are mature and sensible people of all groups, regardless of stereotypes, and they shouldn't have to be generalised like that. As for the OP, I'd have to agree that it is somewhat valid. Grouping just leads to a bit of a mob-mentality and ends up polarising people more, I suppose.

A point worth taking into account about the internet is: Average guy + Audience + Anonymity = Jerk.

It mostly comes down to someone offend another and the other side punching back. At least that's how I see it.

First of all Dabble, welcome to SWF!
I agree with you on this one, however... It's been pointed out a million times before and people still don't get it, so I doubt they will now... I know you did it with the best of intentions probably, but it isn't gonna help I think.

Although, in any case, welcome to the forums! Hope you don't mind those with a negative IQ value around here and hope you can enjoy yourself here!

Thank you.

and I can't help it, the senseless grouping is quite aggravating.

I guess I just have to cope with this though.

Yes but, that's the debate, isn't it? Casual vs. competitive.

In any situation, people will group together to prove a point.

And in general, it's the casual players laughing at the competitive players because they're "sad", which of course is not true, it's just different ways of enjoying the game. No competitive player with a valid opinion will say that casual players "suck" because they know that the casual player is having fun playing a game. It's like any game or sport. Chess... some casual players might think it's sad to ply competitive chess, but it's something that the chess player enjoys doing. The pro Chess player doesn't dislike the casual player for not being pro.

I just don't get it. But you can't tell people not to group, because the argument is based around two groups.

Stereotyping is convenient and healthy. Sorry, but your words are going to be lost in this ongoing debate between the so called 'casuals' and the 'elitist.'

"I play casually and competitively; I can speak for myself. Don't group me in with everyone else; I don't necessarily carry the same mindset that others may."
Sorry, but I'm going to categorize you in the "guys can't we all just get along" crowd =P
