I was thinking of something along the lines of joining a stage with no time limit where opponents would appear at any time during the match to play. The game would never end as you just pummel each other untilnsomeone rages out. After someone leaves, another can potentially enter mid match by a stock platform.

To balance out the "who is winning" system, it should just be done away with and be points instead.

I call it... FREE BRAWL/MELEE/WII U!

Another idea besides online 1v1s would be online adventure mode or something like that.

This idea is already being used between people (mostly friends), where they'd brawl 10 hours on the same game that has no stock and time limit.

What happens if no one joins for a while?
I hate using CoD as an example but.... If someone leaves another guy would just join in.

Nothing would happen if no one enters, you just leave if it takes to long. Perhaps while waiting the game could search for other rooms and ask if you'd want to join by pressing start and select together or somefin.

A proper 1v1 ruleset with a good ranking system is all I want. Pokeball/beam sword, 10 stock, Hyrule FFA games are what my friends and family are for.

I would love to be able to play with a friend from my friends list in Team Battle. I wish Sakurai would implement that, so I can choose who I am teamed up with.

Online tournament mode. There will be maximum of 64 players.

Player's card, just like in Injustice Gods Among Us, can be customized as well. I hope the online mode will be better than Brawl's with significant improvements.

I would actually be happy with a ranking system as long as there is a proper ruleset. It'd really improve matchmaking instead of (when no one else is online) having to go on that terrible "With Anyone" mode. Match players up by ranks as long as a co-op adventure mode (2-4) players. Halo is a great example of a successful co-op campaign if any of you guys have played it.

Personally, I'd love a Q1 or Q2 release, but if it means they have to rush then I'd rather wait for a great game then rush for a good game.

I hope rage quitting will result in an automatic loss to someone who did it. Does anyone remember the input in Brawl, Melee or N64.

Are you implying the presence of scores and leaderboards?

What I want:
-Matchmaking with custom settings, ergo 1 vs 1 and such.
-Coop minigames or something, I really enjoyed coop HRC and BTT. 2 player classic/adventure would be amazingly fun.
-Less Lag
-Spectator being good

What I dont want:
-Online ranking system
-More concern over online which will effect offline polish

Thats me

Leaderboards and ranking systems are REALLY hard to get right. Even the best systems in the world undergo severe scrutiny and anger players everywhere. I say leave that pressure to Riot and Blizzard. Nintendo should focus on friends lists.

Assuming the stage editor returns, (it will,) we should definitely have an easy way to be able to share our stages and download each others.

Cutomizable matchmaking would be wonderful, but It'd be great if Nintendo implemented ladder matches.

I'd be OK with short ladder seasons. Mario Strikers Charged has something like that, but I've already forgotten the time period. (It's something like every 7 days.) Still, the only ladders that will matter will be the ones run by competitive communities like SWF and MLG.

From what I understand Soul Calibur 5's ranking system does a fairly good job of pitting you against others of equal skill level. I don't see why Namco Bandai couldn't do the same for SSB4.

If in the case that they don't want to hurt and/or annoy player's with losing ranked matchmaking points due to reason "x" they could make it invisible and use it for the sole purpose of who to put you up against in random matchmaking, at least this would be a improvement to me over having nothing in place on the terms of trying to have equally skilled players put together.

Because really, I don't really think anyone has much fun on this point as either the hypothetical 8 year old kid(s) getting destroyed or the person who's doing so without his opponent(s) putting up a reasonable fight. (Or hey finding yourself in a Taunt Party is always fun right? Especially after you waited 5+ minutes to find a match.)

Personally always preferred close matches and a ranking system visible or invisible could at least help with that on randoms.
