online help

Hello all, first post, hope I can get some help. Finally got around yesterday to setting up online play. No idea what I was doing. I downloaded Mupen 64, project 64, ssb64 rom, and kaillera.

I was successfully able to play ssb64 on Mupen. On project 64 it gave me graphics issues (what is the difference between these two emulators?). OK, w/e at least one works.

Then I tried to do online. I have something called MAME. When I go into that it gives me the option to start Kaillera net play, so I can do that, join a server, fine.

BUT, when I try to join an SSB game it tells me I don't have the ROM. I figure I do, if I can play it on the emulator, so maybe it's not the correct version or in the wrong place? Any Ideas? I basically moved the contents of the folder to everywhere I thought it might need to be but still not luck...

I'm not sure, but isn't MAME an emulator for arcade games? You have to use the Kaillera client in Mupen or PJ64k (make sure you have PJ64k, not PJ64).

You should probably work on trying to get PJ64k to work, since most people use that rather than Mupen. Don't worry, most people get errors first time around. :p

You probably need to use a different graphics driver. Try downloading the Vista-ready PJ64k pack in the Smash Index thread.

Thanks,

When I try to start PJ64K I get an error message that I do not have enough memory, unable to start jump table, failed to allocate memory. Advice?

I can't remember what causes that, but it can't hurt to give the Vista pack a try.

Besides that, try disabling your antivirus. I know some cause problems with PJ64k. I use Bitdefender, and it was causing a problem with it for me (there are conflicts with other AV programs too).
