Online Error Codes abound!

So it's probably become obvious by now that online match struggles are more than just our own. They're way too widespread to be issues on our end. Tons of people are able to connect to Nintendo Network perfectly fine, then once they try to join a match, they get greeted with an ambiguous error:

"An error has occurred. Please try again later."

It always seems to be an error code such as 018-0514, 018-0516, 018-0521, 018-0201... What can be done about it?

Nothing. Nintendo has a help page on it, but the problem is with the netcode and matchmaking. My internet is geeat and my 3ds in in my dmz. Nothing helps.

It may be why the only matches I get are with japanese players (=lag). Totally useless online functionality.

I get it, but i just try to join matches repeatedly and it takes about 3-5 tries to get through, kinda inconvenient, but oh well

What's interesting is that my internet is pretty good in general... But not with my 3DS.

I had noticed really bad lag and was like "Can't be my wifi, Nintendo's servers are bad"

But then I tried it on my phone's mobile hotspot and completely lag-free almost every time. Something to consider
