On Wii U I experience much less latency than with 3DS

Just want to ask if it is just me.. I usually use the Wii U at my family's house and the 3DS in my students apartment, where is no TV.

At the family's house my connection is better and I do not have to use WLAN, so there would be good reasons why the connection is better. Still there are sometimes surprisingly lagless games with 3DS, they are just not that often. So I ask myself if it is just me or are there much more laggy games on 3DS in general?
