Hello. I am sorry if I come off as having too few posts to make a thread, or if I am too new to the sit, but I wanted to ask about the problem that I worry may present itself, characters that are overplayed. I have mentioned the preocupation before, but it is the first time I am actually asking about it. I know that it may sound childish, but I worry that characters such as Meta Knight, Sonic, Pit or such may end up being the vast majority of competitors in online play or in tournaments. If I am not mistaken, this problem presented itself in SSBM in the form of Fox, Marth, Sheik and several others. I am sorry if this post seems noobish or selfish, and I know that I am not contributing to a solution (in the case that this really is something to worry about, maybe I'm just being paranoid) by planning to play Pit. But what I would really like to know is if this is something that I should be worried about or not. Thank you.

You are worried about the balance of the game? Heh. So am I. It is in Sakurai's hand... hopefully he has learned something over the years.

If the game is unbalanced, there will be overused characters. And if it is pretty balance, there will still likely be overused characters simply because this is mainly a fanboy's game and some characters are more popular than others.

Welcome to SWF!

While I can understand your worry, I think it's too early in the game to judge that. Your comparison to Melee is based off a tier list that was well-established over several years. Brawl isn't released yet, so we don't know if things will change, and after all, Sakurai is planning on making the game as balanced as he can.

Hope this calmed some of your worries.
