Good evening SSB4 community. Guess who~.
I know a lot has talked about me and how I have like thrown a lot of fit on all things SSB4 has introduced and so on and then throwing around all kinds of sayings like leaving the series for good and all that stuff because some character inclusions and so forth overall.
But let's be completely clear here: you've seen kept seeing all the fans also throwing salt and tears over some characters not making it in Smash, mostly as playables: they might become Assists or other things.
However, we all have to admit that as much as I know that Sakurai and his team pours so much work on this game, there will always be something that will make us aggravated: whether'd be character inclusions or other designs choices you will not be happy with. None can't ever be perfect: which is basically that despite all the amazing things Sakurai has worked on to make the series strife, he can't be called someone so perfect that we have to force ourselves downright appreciate the bitter outcome of our wishes: because "they're still there, hello".
I'm not trying to say though that we should have had Toad. Or Starfy. Or Skull Kid tagging with Ashley. Or like all the other characters we might see deconfirmed or never to be seen in Smash. We've got to keep ourselves realistic: there will always be disappointments, because Sakurai, along with Nintendo and it's all subsidiaries, can't include all the characters ever imaginable in Nintendo to duke it out. And we know the reasons can be numerous.
But during those disappointments, I've noticed somewhat that it's being ridiculed upon in Smash-community: mostly because as much as it's just to point at the fact that Sakurai can't include these characters, there's a lot times I hear "drinking fanboys' tears", and whatnot. As much as some suggestions or wishes might be ridiculous.
They all represent, one way or another, characters that we have become acquainted with during our lives and times during videogaming, past or even present. And if they had even more, to see them come together with already amazing cast of Nintendukers would be a dream come true to many, wouldn't you say? I can only point to Melee's intro video as that fantastic vision.
If that video made you feel that amazing feeling of your childhood slamming into one amazing montage, good. This is exactly why we all wish to see the fellas we so loved to be with in these games.
Melee though had it so simple: it was best of the best back from N64-days and beyond. With some fellas we didn't know about but were happy to get to know. (Mother, Fire Emblem, etc).
Mixing that all with Brawl taking a whole new level with representing Nintendo, and thus a lot newcomer wishes being cut, and we have quite a messed-up fanbase outside of Smashboards and so forth. The tears won't stop as troll known as Sakurai prepares up for his next deconfirmations.
But to say that these fans deserve to get their tears out for supporting certain characters despite them not being all that "likely" or not really giving any much impression on how great they'd be as fighters, is quite counter-intuitive. In fact, it's making these supporters hate Smash and Sakurai's hard working on it even more, and even worse, just distance the fanbases from each other even more. Smash-community has rather little empathy shared openly when it comes to the parts in the game we didn't like to see.
Because they all represent something for us that we got to love during our careers as Nintendo-or videogaming fans in general.
And with all the quality we see in Smash given to playables, I might even say being an Assist pales in comparison to be a fighter in Smash, because of a whim-quest-appearance-thing-alone (which can even be ridiculed with around, e.g Starfy) compared to onslaught of dedication, content, fans and whatnot.
At the end though, with all these deconfirms however, the way to cope with 'em (as in life in general) makes your true colors show. And I think I've thought of something that I find not entirely talked in Smash's fandom: to love something past it's blemishes (weaknesses/negatively affecting things) being there.
I have left from the boards for perhaps, under a month now? It's something of a big hiatus I had needed, considering my mindset back then. A lot might find it stupid (emo) and whatnot, but I'll ignore all of that, because if it meant I could get to re-construct myself about many matters in my life (which might explain my "low pain threshold", so to speak) and see something so new that I can look more positively on things that I didn't like before (like myself), then it was all worth it.
I'm gonna say it for you all: if there's something you don't like Smash, be it deconfirm, etc, then so be it, you're allowed to hate it. It's up to you if to write about it like the many people in Miiverse (*whinewhinepleasesakurai*) or go emoing or even berserk. At the end, there'll be things that disappoint: but I think you're allowed to show your ways about it (just don't go overboard lol), and never change your opinion about those matters at all: with good reasonings, or at least enough to overgo that this is best Sakurai could do with "x" thing. At the end, don't force Smash to justify everything about it's inclusion about a character you didn't get to see as playable or similar.
If you believe they could have been more, then keep on that.
However, if you even then choose to follow this series despite those feelings for whatever reason, congratulations, I hope Sakurai meets you and gets to hear how you still love to play his game despite him truly and gravely disappointing you. In anycase, this is in my opinion, the most beautiful form of dedication and being a fan. And for someone who works his ass off while stressing all the time about this game, I'm willing to be he'd appreciate it to the fullest.
And now you know why I decided to come back here.
I might feel not entirely normal to just feel all this, but it feels very refreshing and has made me have a completely new look on this series. As much as I will still hate Sakurai's treatment on Starfy in Smash, I have decided to ovelook that for good, kind of "forgive", and move on with what this game has to offer. I don't know what's ahead, but at the end, if I could get over this, I might get over for more deconfirms and other things because there'll definitively be things that I'm going to look forward to as well. And perhaps, I have already found some in the way. (At the end I feel like me going emo is obsolete now that I know that there'll be less disappointments personal to me the more I see them.)
To emphasize that, I've decided to ditch my last account and get a new start. As much as it might be for a series that is just weird brawler duke-out, it's a very dear one, and being in this community as been as great too. So I think I want to get back on the train but alongside see how I have grown from what we all would call "embarrassing and immature" habits: but around this series, I think we can't avoid those kind of feelings.
However, this series is that dear to me, and I hope I get to keep on following it as I've chosen.
