Chief is overrated anyway. Far as I'm concerned, halo wasn't that great. It was solid and enjoyable, but not the ball-buster second coming of Christ that X-Boys seem to make it out to be.

Yeah, I enjoyed Halo's campaign but after an hour or so in multiplayer it started getting boring, the fact that half the kills you get are usually from the better weapon you have and the other half on skill and knowledge, Smash requires all skill, and the occasional luck

Halo's actually a pretty fun game. I like it (Halo 1 at least) as much as Melee. I can understand why some people could play Halo and not understand why people think it's so much fun. But I can also understand why people could see SSB as a silly game that can't be taken seriously. People on these boards know about all the nuances and details that enrich the gameplay make it so fun. The reason I like Halo and see it as more than just another FPS is that I know and understand the nuances and details of gameplay, and those make the gameplay deep and enjoyable.

In Halo 1 at least, you start out with the pistol, which is arguably the best weapon in the game. If you play well and smart, you can win. Of course, certain weapons give players advantages in certain situations, but that's part of Melee as well. Different characters and levels can shift the balance more towards one player than another. In the end, skill and smart playing will win out.
