Meteos.

While a character would be odd, there are plenty of items to choose from, and a stage would just be swell.

As you fight, meteos would fall from the sky, and occasionally launch up to create platforms and such. In the background you could see the world being barraged as residents scamper around in fear. In the sky you could see distant planets (not even necessarily ones from Meteos) also getting attacked, as well as fighting back, and occasionally going nova.

As for the exact planet, there are several to choose from:
Meteo. The main "antagonist" and most important planet.
Geolyte. The most basic planet, and really used as the main one.
The Metamo Ark. Not a planet, but were the story mode takes place. They could pull a Lylat Cruise and have it zoom around the other planets.
Jeljel. It's just awesome.

I'm not sure of the party status of Meteos. It was published by Nintendo in America, and was designed by Sakurai. Let's just hope it's possible for it to get representation.

At the very least, we could look to Meteos to see what Sakurai is thinking. The 1-player mode may have branches, or even objectives. New stuff may be unlocked in a similar fashion to the fusion, using the coins for more than just trophies. Sakurai may use items or hazards reminiscent of Meteos (such as the rockets or smokescreens), though not overtly stated to be from it.

Hmm.. They MIGHT do something like that. But its hard to throw in puzzle game elements I'm guessing.

I'm sure he would have considered it though.

I don't want anymore stages with hazards and changes and stuff.
I just want levels that only riley on skill and wits.

Hazards only get them banned from tourneys.

Levels that rely on skill and wits? Too many of those are boring. If I played on Final Destination and Dreamland for every game in my life, I would get bored fast. I think it's good to have a variety of levels that "rely on skill", but I really enjoy seeing the producer's creativity shine and being able to interact with the environment.

Don't like Jeljel though. :( Otherwise, I support.

That's why he wants more levels that are unbanned. You're right. If I played on Final Destination and Dreamland always, I would get bored. That's why we need more stages like them. So we DON'T get bored. However, I agree with the fact that seeing the producer's creativity shine is a great thing. In the end, I think there will be a lot of stages, so Sakurai will satisfy the people who want stages like Final Destination, and people that like stages like Blue Bird. He's just showing the stages with the hazards now to advertize the game. If all he showed were stages like FD, then people might think the game's devs were slacking off.

Hazzards are also fun and add more veriety to the game. It's part of the skill to learn the hazzards and take advantage of them. If all the courses were tournamnt legal then we'd have a pretty boaring game. There are other out there who like those hazzards you know. But, enough about that.

A Meteos course is a no show. Game is third party. Published by Nintendo in US and Europe, but by Bandia in Japan. Meaning Nintendo does not own the rights to it, Q Entertainment does.

Here's the thing, though: It was made by Sakurai. That brings up the question of its ownership and Brawlability. Even if he doesn't own it, he may (and hopefully will) purchase the rights to it.
At the very least, we can look to Meteos for possible clues about Brawl (particularly the 1-player and possible story mode).

As for stage hazards: The meteos don't necesarily have to harm you. I pictured them as having about as much impact as Green Greens' Whispy Woods, Pokémon Stadium's transformations, or even Fountain of Dreams' water spurts.

Also, Jeljel is teh winszorz.

I think thats an awesome idea, but if the meteos stack, walls could appear, which could lead to infinite combos... but yeah overall that would b a sick stage not for tourney play though

That doesn't seem to stop Corneria, and it has a permanent and determined wall. On Meteos, the walls won't always be there, and infinites could be interupted by ignitions and falling meteos. I'd geuss it'd be counterpickable.

This doesn't need it's own topic.
Yes. Yes is does. This isn't just a "create a stage." This deserves its own discussion because it also deals with Meteos's ownership and possible correlations between its functions and Brawl's.

No, it's a stage idea; so it belongs in the stage idea thread. You say this yourself in the very first line.

How about an assist trophy. You activate the trophy, that eye of sauron thing appears in the sky, and a bunch of meteos rain down on the field.

Hah! I called it!
After today's update, I don't think it's too far off to think he's pulling some idea from Meteos, if not the actual game.
