Because someone had to.

Xerneas appeared in today's photo but what does it mean? Pokeball? Stage Hazard? Boss?

or even...

Playable Character?

Just for fun, here's a moveset

B: Aurora Beam: Fires a thin long multi coloured beam forward.
B-side: Megahorn: Charges with i'ts head down at full speed
B-up: Moonblast: Creates a Moon shaped explosion of Fairy magic at it's feet to propel itself upward.
B-Down: Light Screen: Surrounds itself with a shield that can take up to 30% projectile damage. Can move while in effect and fades after 10 Seconds

FINAL SMASH: Geomancy: Fires a wave of energy pillars forwards. Similar to Magneto's Shockwave Hyper attack in MVC.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say stage hazard/Pokeball. If it were playable we would've gotten the banner to show up, which honestly would have been funny.

Would be quite the surprise. However, I think it's a Pokéball Pokémon, the blue sky looks to be from Skyloft, so I don't think it's a stage hazard.

I think it's not a playable character, or Sakurai would have put the challenger approaching screen. He's likely a Poké Ball or possibly a stage hazard, given the ambiguity of the picture.

The fact that Pikachu seems to be so high up probably means that he's standing on a platform, Battlefield makes sense. And therefore, Xerneas is on the ground below. He seems too small to be a float, plus his head sticks out so high vertically, it'd be a weird obstacle to get over. The other possibility is that it is indeed a new, Pokemon themed stage where, once again, Pikachu is standing on something, and Xerneas is in the background as either a hazard, like Dialga or Palkia were in Spear Pillar, or is just a set piece that isn't interactive. My money's on Pokeball though. We've had Lugia and Ho-oh, Groudon and Kyogre, it only makes sense that we'll get Xerneas and Yvetal. ( I think I spelled that close to correctly) The quote from Sakurai, (Or at least the locally interpreted quote) throws me though. He would have said so much more by not saying anything, instead of saying that they aren't ANNOUNCING anything. Guy's a goofball.

Well the only thing I think we can be sure of is he's not playable character, so good thing we've now got this thread.

Maybe you could expand that OP a bit Guybrush.

Despite the fact we don't even know what role this Pokemon is playing. Y fans will probably get their legendary also. So don't go around freaking out for no reason.

Don't worry I'm very certain we will be seeing Yveltal in the game as well, just as we had Ho-oh and Lugia as Pokeball Pokemon in Melee and Brawl, Groudon and Kyogre as Pokeball Pokemon in Brawl and Dialga and Palkia as stage hazards in Brawl.

So Yveltal will most definitely come along too as a Pokeball Pokemon alongside Xerneas as well as Zekrom and Reshiram for Black and White (Not sure what their roles would be, stage hazards for a Pokemon Black and White stage or also Pokeball Pokemon? :/)

Xerneas hight is 9'10''/3.0 m and Weight 474.0 lbs. 215.0 kg

Entei is 6'11'' 2.1 m and weight is 436.5 lbs. 198.0 kg and was a float in melee.:)
That's not to say he couldn't be a float, I just mean the one in today's photo looks too small to be a float for the stage to use like a platform. It probably is actually in reasonable scale to the characters.

I wouldn't be too mad. We must continue the trend of replacing Pokemon. Just like Lucario replaced Mewtwo in cold blood!
I don't know how this is a trend if it only happened one time. Just like everyone says the most recent Fire Emblem protagonist should replace the previous playable Fire Emblem character that's not Marth. Lucario did not exclude any other character from the roster, he was just made playable.

I'm 100% certain that Xerneas is a Poke Ball Pokemon. But, I would probably die laughing if I saw that banner on Monday and Sakurai saying, "Oh! I forgot to mention that Xerneas has joined the battle!" :troll:

Mewtwo is a Legendary Pokemon.
Jigglypuff is a Fairy-type Pokemon.
Lucario is black and blue.

Xerneas is a Legendary Fairy-type Pokemon that is black and blue. Therefore Xerneas should replace Mewtwo, Jigglypuff, and Lucario. :awesome:

# Toadlogic.
It would have been Toad logic if there were some quote around

but nope. If those Peach pictures were stand alone, then the logic wouldn't even exist to begin with. Not discounting him yet but ya know.

It's probably playable :troll:

I kinda hope Xerneas gets in, but that might mean Mewtwo may not. But with your moveset, it wouldn't be THAT bad.
