Just kidding, Tera knew from day 6 1/2 that they weren't in the game. However, do you think that this might have been hinting at something, similar to the way Pit's trophy said: "Will Pit ever fight again?"

Do you think that because of the letdown (at least for big Sonic fans) and because they supposedly were there, that they will appear in Brawl?

She ACKNOWLEDGES that it is not true, she only refers to the now infamous April Fool's Day joke toward the possibility that it may have hinted at Sonic EVENTUALLY being in SSB, as may have been the case with pit regarding the tag in his SSBM trophy profile: "Will he fight again?" Also, if can remember all the way back to '01, you may remember several hints being dropped to his inclusion, including various quotes from Miyamoto-san himself.

I agree about Tails. Sakurai did say only 1 or two more third party characters would be added, and quite frankly I'd prefer it if they focused more on Nintendo's own characters and giving every one good move sets. Plus, there are many other characters that would be a better choice than Tails.

Don't forget Wolf O'Donnell, he was in the title screen for a split second when it showed the close up of Fox.

Just in case some people don't know what the joke was... In an issue of EGM, it was announced that you could unlock Sonic and Tails by killing 20 wire frames in Cruel Melee. Some players completed this task and were awarded with nothing( except the Mr. Reseti trophy you get after beating 5).Here are some screen shots.

That same magazine also said that you could unlock older versions of James Bond in Goldeneye 007 if you beat Aztec on 007 dificulty with the enemy settings on 100%, it would fit in the 24th cheats spot. They had real screenshots of this, the makers left their photos in as a gameshark code but took the characters out, like the hot coffea cheat. This has led some to believe that Sonic and Tails were taken out before the game was realeased.

There was also a rumor that you could unlock Toad by shooting all the credits after you play a 1 player game, but that was also false.
