Making a thread for this here since it's relevant to those who don't want to lose all of the hard work they have put into Smash 3DS if they decide to get a New 3DS.

Wait, do people not know about this already or what? I'm not trying to be mean or anything but I thought everyone would know this by now.

I don't know. Thought I'd post it anyway. Better to be safe than sorry.

Couple of questions:
  • Do I REALLY need a Micro SD card adapter to put it into the computer?
  • Is this the only way I can transfer save data? I'm guessing the wireless options don't work? I know they take longer but the last time I got a 3ds and transferred, I lost all my data on stuff that I downloaded (I have Smash 3DS on a cartridge so it should be fine...)

What? How?! Did the SD card suddenly turn down and force you to format your files when you plug it into the PC? I recommend you that backup your softwares before transfer.

1. Yes.

2. No, the other two options work.

Wireless transfer is slowest but easiest. Just follow the prompts and you'll be on your way.

Low-Capacity Micro SD Card is used when you have a big SD Card in your 3DS, but a smaller MicroSD Card. This transfers data, but leaves out downloaded games which can be redownloaded anytime from the Nintendo eShop.

PC Based Transfer is the most difficult, but fastest. Instructions are demonstrated by the video.
