Pokemon Name: Roserade
Pokedex Number: 407
Metagame Tier: BL
Ability: Natural Cure/Poison Point
Type: Grass/Poison

Base Stats-
Hp-60
Attk-70
Def-55
Sp. Attk-125
Sp. Def-105
Spd-90

Movesets:

Choice Specs

Leaf Storm
Sludge Bomb
Extrasensory/Weather Ball/Hidden Power Fire
Extrasensory/Weather Ball/Hidden Power Fire
EV’s: 252 Sp. Attk/252 Spd/4 Hp
Nature: Timid/Modest
Ability: Natural Cure
Item: Choice Specs
In this set, Leaf Storm, combined with Choice Specs and STAB will be dealing the heavy damage. Sludge Bomb works as a STAB as well as having a 30% chance to poison the foe. For the last 2 moves, if your team is weather-based you will like using Weather Ball.
Hidden Power Fire takes down the Steel types that wall Roserade, and Extrasensory deals with Poison types.

Double Powder

Sleep Powder
Energy Ball
Stun Spore
Sludge Bomb
EV’s: 252 Sp. Attk/252 Spd/4 Hp
Nature: Timid/Modest
Ability: Natural Cure
Item: Life Orb/Leftovers
This set involves Roserade putting it’s status afflicting moves to use. Sleep Powder cripples sweepers, but in the case of a Sleep Clause, Stun Spore slows down the foe. Allowing you to hit it with its 2 STAB moves. You could also add Synthesis over Sludge Bomb or Energy Ball.

Gimmick Physical Sweeper
Swords Dance
Sleep Powder
Poison Jab
Razor Leaf
EV’s: 252 Attk/252 Spd/4 Hp
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Natural Cure
Item: Life Orb
This is a gimmick way to use Roserade. Put opponents to sleep, then Swords Dance to raise sweeping potential. Then hit with its STAB moves. Poison Jab has 30% chance of poisoning, and a critical hit with Razor Leaf can be a nice bonus.

Defensive Staller

Sleep Powder
Energy Ball/Sludge Bomb
Rest/Synthesis
Spikes/Toxic Spikes/Aromatherapy
EV’s: 252 Hp/252 Sp Def/4 Sp Attk
Nature: Calm
Ability: Natural Cure
Item: Leftovers
Having base 105 Sp. Def is nothing to laugh at…but its poor HP stat is.
Sleep Powder is needed to stall opponents, while Energy Ball or Sludge Bomb serve as its attacking moves. Rest and Synthesis are Roserade’s ways of recovering, although with Rest you need to switch off in order for Natural Cure to activate.

Seed-Sub
Leech Seed
Substitute
Sludge Bomb/Giga Drain
Sleep Powder/Stun Spore
EV’s: 252 Sp Attk/252 Spd/4 Hp
Nature: Timid
Ability: Natural Cure
Item: Leftovers
Roserade, like many grass types, are able to setup the Leech Seed+Substitute combo. It’s pretty much all straight-forward. Seed the opponent, then Substitute. Leftovers and the Seeded for will heal back the health lost from Substitute. Use Sludge Bomb for an attack, and the chance of poisoning can be a nice little gift. Or you could use Giga Drain and also gain HP with it as well. Use the last attack slot for Sleep Powder or Stun Spore.

Counters: Blissey probably is the #1 counter against Roserade. Its high Special Defense can withstand Roserade’s strong attacks, and can switch off the status effects. Although a Physical Sweeper Roserade could possibly fool it, Blisseys without Seismic Toss usually have Ice Beam. Other good counters are Heatran, Jirachi, Metagross, Bronzong, Skarmory, and Magnezone. Their Steel type resists Roserade’s STAB attacks as long as HP Fire is absent.

Summary: Overall, Roserade can provide you with decent help on attack or defense. It can serve as a special/physical sweeper, or act as a staller. It also can be used on a weather-based team. You probably won’t see it go fighting against the likes of Salamence and Blissey though…

Movepool physical:
Poison Sting
Bullet Seed
Razor Leaf
Poison Jab
Secret Power
Frustration
Return
Façade
Natural Gift
Giga Impact
Pin Missle

Movepool special:
Magical Leaf
Energy Ball
Weather Ball
Sludge Bomb
Solarbeam
Mega Drain
Giga Drain
Hyper Beam
Shadow Ball
Grass Knot
Leaf Storm

Movepool support:
Growth
Aromatherapy
Swords Dance
Rain Dance

Sweet Scent
Toxic
Synthesis
Protect
Grasswhistle
Sleep Powder
Sunny Day
Rest

Endure
Substitute
Stun Spore
Attract
Psych Up
Captivate
Sleep Talk
Spikes
Toxic Spikes

Cotton Spore

Roserade has 125 Special Attack, not 120.

The moveset names should be bolded.

I think Shadow Ball and Grass Knot should be bolded in the movepool section, as well as be options in the Choice Specs set.

I'll complain about the movesets later. ;)

Well, Shadow Ball doesn't give much type advantage, and Grass Knot really isn't needed when Energy Ball/Leaf Storm are around. :)

:yoshi: Grass Knot honestly doesn't suit Roserade for the roles it plays.

Maybe consider Giga Drain on the defensive staller? Leech seed is good for that set, too.

Honestly, Rest is really the last thing you want to run on a Roserade. Yes, it gets Natural Cure to get rid of the sleep status, but Roserade is fairly quick--if you use Rest, chances are you're outspeeding whoever and getting dented afterwards, so now you've got a less-than-optimal Roserade to switch into attacks or take further beatings. I mean, it has its practical uses, such as Resting on the switch and then switching out yourself, but overall, I think it's not very reliable, especially with so many hard-hitting ice specials flying around, and Alakzam is still popular (for the most part, anyway) which doesn't help, despite Roserade's great special defense.

I'd like to see some mention of Grasswhistle, Growth, or maybe some Sunny Day support. Solarbeam + Weather Ball + Hidden Power = amazing combo if you've got the right support for it. Trouble Seed is also a great move for support, especially against switch-ins like Bronzong. I also might have to agree on Shadow Ball being another good move to consider. There's no denying its usefulness, honestly, but it's nothing terribly special either. Just another option.

Sleep powder>Grasswhistle due to the fact that some enemies may have Soundproof.
Okay, I'll add shadow ball as a move to be noted.
Growth is already mentioned...but if you mean in a set...then no...

I've used a Choice Scarf set where I predicted switches to guarantee 2 layers of Toxic Spikes.
I uess you could do the same thing with Focus Sash, too. Leech Seed + Focus Sash + Toxic Spikes + Sleep Powder should definately get a mention: Sleep some1, TS on the switch, TS again as you live with focus sash, and you can een stay alive with Spikes down if u use Leech seed to bring u back to 100%
