Hello future Pika mains. In this topic we will go over possible advantages Pika may have in SSBB.
PROS:
1. Range: In the SSBB trailer Pika's Fsmash seems significantly larger. Perhaps this is a hint Pika will be given range. Range was one of Pika's BIGGEST weakness in SSBM.

2. Power : I never thought Pikachu's moves were powerful( with exceptions to the Usmash). Sakurai said he was powerful. And if he said Pika was powerful, he probably is VERY
poweful.

3. Pika's BACON: I personally do not like it do to the suicide rate. But many of you think it is the best.

4. Pika was nerfed in SSBM that means.... Sakurai thought Pika was too powerful in smash64. So he tried to balance him in SSBM. But that didn't work. So he might add a few advantages to Pika in SSBB.

Cons:

Pika will probably be light.

Overwiew.

I think Pika will be in middle tier.

NOTE: I do not own SSBB, but with the information offered I can only go so far with accuracy.
The information available hints that Pika seems better. Discuss. Agree, flame, or add something.

Where it all went wrong
If Nintendo's track record of "correcting" balancing issues means anything, Pikachu and Kirby will take once more to the high tiers.

In all honesty though, I think Pikachu could go relatively unchanged and still be "improved," seeing as its not too inaccurate to assume that Sakurai will probably be taking some stabs at the top characters, and, again, will quite possibly over-do it.

I think they correct based on a n00b's eyes. If you ask someone who likes SSBM but doesn't play competitively, they will say "Pika sucks, Pichu sucks, Jiggz sucks, while Samus, mewtwo, and fox owns " so the ones that own will be going down, whilst the sucks will go up. Get it? Poor Mewtwo. Also the changes Pika has was BIG. Range will give Pika combo ability which will make it jump some tiers.

EDIT: Pika looks so sexy in Brawl. :)

Well, I've always thought that Pikachu is good. But as you say, yeah they're probably gonna make the bad characters better, like Kirby. Which I very much hope, since he's always been my main, but he pretty much can't kill anyone.

but a pig in the sun
since pika has always been my main, and will stay my main, I wont really care where he takes place on the tier list, but I'm guessing it'll either be high tier or mid tier. most likely middle tier, since sakurai said he was a well-rounded character this time around, although the competitive metagame might change that :/

anyway, pika seems to be a lot stronger this time around, and has had his range fixed up a bit, so I expect good things from pika.

pikachu has also been my main throughout the smash bros. series.
i agree with tirkaro, it doesn't really matter what tier your player is on, it just matters how you play as them. fox and falco might be exceptions to this, because anyone can own with them.

that being said, i did notice pikachu's range, and it is one of the changes i am realllly looking forward to. there has been plenty of times where pikachu's a smash has been short by an inch, virtually speaking.

but, i have to admit that pikachu has been getting old throughout the past two games, (don't get me wrong, i still want him there, but just not as my main) and i'm looking forward to mastering a newcomer.

I Lol'd at this.

All Pikachu needs this time around is more attack range. And sexier hats. And maybe a Raichu costume.

Cool! So why do you think they picked pikachu and jiggly out of all 150 pokemon to be in the original smash bros

Pikachu is the most well known Pokemon. I heard they put in Jiggly in 64 due to time issues, and kept her in Melee due to popularity, but I have no actual proof of this.

dont you think that bc there are different genders, maybe jiggly's a guy
I used to be into Pokemon. I don't do anything much with it anymore though. But for some reason, i can still recoignze most of the 1st gen or 2nd gen pokemon by Silhouettes. I think some Pokemon may produce eggs Asexually (in the case of Chansey), while others produce sexually (Nidorina & Nidorain (Or what ever the male one was)). And for the less few, there is only one of that Pokemon (EX: Mew & Mewtwo). But lol, that would be funny ij Jiggs were a guy, Jigglypuff was the only supposed female in the original Smash Bros for the N64. WHihc not to sound sexist, goes away from the "Bros." part.

How would Jigglypuff be the only female in SSB if Samus was there as well?

Or if you'd played previous Metroid games. :) I don't find the name particularly boyish to be honest, though it isn't very feminine either.
I was just talking about my start. My 1st console experience was the N64, so i had no idea who the heck Samus was. Back then i didn't even care about gender in games anyway, Basically. i was a nintendo noob.
And i said it sounds boyish only because it sounds more better if you say "Samus! My man!" rather then "Samus! my girl!" (Although she'd kill you for saying either).
And we probably should go back to Pikachu now, we went to Jigglypuff to a non-pokemon bounty hunter.
