Here is some background information on him

Wikipedia; info obtained from Ogre Battle encyclopedia said:
Magnus Gallant

The main character in this game. The son of Ankiseth. Leader of the Blue Knights. The future king of Palatinus, and future father of Aeneas. At a young age, he witnessed his father kill a noble who intended to assassinate his childhood friend, Prince Yumil. The people called Ankiseth a murderer, and he never denied it, which pushed Magnus away from his father. At the age of 12, he left Latium to join the Military Academy. Upon graduation at the age of 18, he was assigned to the Southern Division under General Godeslas. As a command candidate, he was assigned an advisor, a man named Hugo Miller. Hugo chose Magnus to be the commander of a training exercise, which angered a fellow candidate, named Dio. He challenged Magnus to a duel, which Magnus refused, saying there was no reason to fight. During the training exercise at Tenne, they stumbled across some bandits, and found out about the plot to capture Prince Yumil. Magnus rushed to the Volmus Mines to rescue Yumil. When he rescued Yumil and his 2 body guards, Rhade and Jeal, Rhade ordered Magnus to kill all the rebels. Magnus captured the enemy leader, instead of killing him. When Rhade tried to execute the rebel, Magnus tried to stop him, in vain. Magnus got his first glimpse of the Zenobians when they rescued the rebel. Two months after the incident, Magnus was promoted to Captain, and was given command of his own knight battalion, the Blue Knights. The Blue Knights were ordered to escort Yumil through Mylesia unharmed. Upon doing so, Yumil gave his thoughts to Magnus, and asked Magnus to be his knight. Magnus was then ordered to investigate the Zenobian border. Magnus dueled with Quass Debonair, a Zenobian general who he saw at the Volmus Mine. Debonair fled, and Magnus chased after him, and encountred the rest of the Zenobians. Magnus and Destin debated right and wrong, and Magnus agreed that the current state of the kingdom was wrong. The Palatinean Revolution took over most of the Southern Division, and Magnus was ordered to capture the leader, Frederick Raskin. Magnus did so, but he realized that Frederick was a very kind man, and when Rhade ordered Magnus to execute Frederick, Magnus instead freed him, and they fled. Magnus joined the Revolutionary Army, and the Blue Knights followed him. With the Revolutionary Army, Magnus stormed Alba Castle and defeated General Godeslas, effectively conquering the Southern Division. Two months later, the battle between the Southern Division and the Western Division escalated. Magnus freed the Nirdamese from the Audvera mining facilities, and defeated Rhade at Mount Ithaca, freeing the Nirdamese from their slavery in Palatinus. Magnus met his father Ankiseth, the acting commander of the Western Division army. They exchanged ideologies, and Ankiseth offered his advice before departing. Although Magnus had orders from headquarters to defeat the Western Division in battle, Magnus opted to make peace with the Western Division. Magnus and the Revolutionary Army then focused their sights on the Eastern Division. Magnus rescued a woman who was being pursued by the Eastern Division. She was Europea, Captain of the Berthan Sentinels. She informed Magnus that Archbishop Odiron had been framed and jailed by Kerikov. Magnus and Europea defeated Kerikov at Celesis, and rescued Odiron. Odiron informed Magnus that Lodis wanted the Ultimate Power, and that Kerikov had told them the location. Magnus headed to the Temple of Berthe. After defeating the Lodis commander Pruflas, Magnus witnessed Yumil unlocking the seal on the chaos gate at the temple. Yumil descended to the Netherworld, and demons began coming from the gate. Magnus was forced to retreat. After regrouping, and learning about the significance of what was happening from Saradin, Magnus and the Blue Knights marched towards the Temple of Berthe so they could destroy the chaos gate. On the way, Magnus encountered Richard and Baldwin, but he was saved by Destin and Gilbert, who urged him to rush to the Temple. Magnus destroyed the temple and sealed the chaos gate. With the East, West, and South under Revolutionary control, the last region was the Central Division. Magnus sieged Fort Romulus, defeating the traitor Xevec, and Prince Amrius, who had succumbed to the Infernal Aura. Magnus then marched on to Latium, where he encountered Procus and Yumil. Procus succumbed to the Infernal Aura, but was defeated in battle. Procus fled to Yumil for help, but Yumil cast him into a void. Yumil encountered his best friend, Magnus, and tried to persuade him before he cast the ultimate spell. Magnus refused to join him. Yumil summoned the Knights of Danika to his side, and fought Magnus. Despite the odds, Magnus and the Blue Knights defeated Yumil. When Yumil was about to surrender to Magnus, Mari became possessed by an unknown force and pierced Yumil with his sword from behind. Zeda appeared and captured Mari. Yumil told Magnus to stop Zeda from starting the Ogre Battle, and died in his best friend's arms. With Palatinus conquered, Magnus asked to be dismissed from the Revolutionary Army so he could pursue Zeda and Lodis. Frederick allowed him to do so. Magnus killed Thamuz during his pursuit, enraging Baldwin. Magnus moved on to Wentinus, and defeated Baldwin and Richard. Baldwin escaped with Zeda to the ruins of Mount Keryoleth, where they began preparations to summon Danika. Magnus defeated Baldwin again, but he was too late to stop Danika from being summoned. Danika transformed into the Queen of the Netherworld, and the gates of the Netherworld opened. Magnus and the Blue Knights fought back the demons and defeated Danika. Magnus went on to have a son, Aeneas (the mother is theorized to be Leia), and he became the King of Palatinus when Frederick suddenly died.
That's quite a backstory

The reason I'm suggesting Magnus is that he is from Ogre Battle 64, one of the few RPGs on the Nintendo 64, which was was developed by both Quest AND Nintendo, and published by Nintendo and Atlus. Also, he appeared on Sakurai's list, located here

Strangely, when most names of the Ogre Battle series are named after songs by Queen, like "Ogre Battle: March of the Black queen", Ogre Battle 64's subtitle name "Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber" is an original title.

the closest way I could explain Ogre Battle 64 is like soul caliber 3's Chronicle of the Sword mode type over view where ypu click on indivisual units to choose where they walk, change stats, etc., but when to parties c;lsh on the field, it goes into this FF Tactic-esque area where the units attack on their own with the settings you chose (automatic, Attack Leader, Attack Strongest, Attack Weakest, etc).

Also, later in the game when Magnus becomes general, he obtains the ability to do blasts with his sword depending on which pedra (elemental seal, element, whatever you wanna call it) he got in the begining (chosen via questions) which could build a healthy B moveset. I only got to see "Fire Blast" due to the fact that was my alingment in the begining mof the game, so other fans can tell me of their effects, so I don't want to make a B moveset just yet. To satisfy all you "OmG! n0 /\/\0r3 5\/\/ord u53r5!!!!!!!" people out there, he can use a clawed gauntlet for some A based punches.

Setting you up the bomb.
Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Calibur... Truely one of my favorite games from the N64 era, and all-time favorites in general, but I'm going to have to disagree with you on Magnus Gallant HMBG -

Diomedes "Dio" Rangue for Brawl!!! :chuckle:

At any rate back on topic, Magnus would indeed be awesome - Hell... ANY Ogre Battle representation would make me happy...

I too liked Dio for two reasons. One, he has the same name as my favorite anime charatcer Dio Brando from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, who is named after the band DIO, one of my favorite ard Rock bands, which is named after Ronnie James Dio . Two, he he kickedass. If any Ogre BAttle rep would appear, it would probably be Magnus because he is the main character of the Ogre Batle game that was partially made by Nintendo, but Dio would be my second bet.

Oww... Bad news... It seems that Square purchased Quest back in 2002. In addition to drastically lowering the chances (which were already quite low) for Ogre Battle to be featured in SSBB, it seems that it may have had the effect of the discontinuation of the series... Grrrrr...

****.

But wasn't there an Ogre game on the GBA after 2002?

EDIT: Nope, released 2002.

Magnus or Destin. Hmm. You have to remember that Destin played not only a pivitol role in Ogre Battle 64, but he was also the main character of March of the Black Queen.

I still like Magnus better though.

I was thinking of making a thread for this guy, considering I just replayed Ogre Battle 64 like a month ago, but then I remembered the whole Square thing and his chances died. u.u

And, both Magnus and Destin were awesome. I remember I had to restart the game so many times to get Destin in my team, it was so worth it having him and Debonair. =D

If you got Destin, you had to put him in a unit with Glbert, Debonair, Saradin and Aisha. It was just so perfect.
