I've been looking around, and It seems that there is a good possibily for Final Fantasy to be established as a series for Smash Bros. It is a long running series that shows Nintendo a lot of support and deserves it's own place in Smash Bros. It has great characters and moves for those characters. Plus some characters use swords! (Come on, we can't let LoZ and FE have all the sword weilding fun.)
There are a lot of basics:
REASONS WHY THE ARE ELIGIBLE
Final Fantasy started as a series on a Nintendo system, the NES. A lot of the characters in SSB also started their major videogame careers on that system.
Final Fantasy 1-6 were re-released for the GBA so all the characters made recents appearences and are fresh(ish) in everyone's mind.
Cloud and several other FF characters made an appearence on the GBA in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.
Everyone in the series has a good number of attacks, and therefore, as basis for a Smash Bros. moveset.
The series were created by Square Enix, a company that really supports Nintendo.
The much overlooked, Final Fantasy Tatics Advance, was on a Nintendo system.
HISTORY
But the fact that a game was on a Nintendo system alone does not allow entry into Smash Bros. True, very true. This franchise also has a rich and memorable history, full of cool stories and plot twists that made the franchise oppose even Kirby, The Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, and Mario. The most popular standard series in Smash Bros.
It also has longlivity(Did I spell that right?). It has been around for 20 years, like Nintendo's Mario. But also gives their games a depth nigh seen in most games.
CHARACTERS
Of course, what, in my opinion, decides wether or not a series gets in Smash Bros. Final Fantasy gives their characters realism, and depth. It shows a character at the deepest level. It gives you their history, their story.
Plus they have battle prowess rarely seen and would be perfect for Smash Bros.
Hopefuls:
Cloud
Setzer
Others (will add soon. Meanwhile, POST YOUR OWN!)
CONCLUSION
They're a great series, has given Nintendo support, gave backbone to turn-based RPGs all around, and have a rich history that has, and will, inspire games, gamers, and the general world of video games for the years to come.
P.S. I know 2 months before the release Brawl might be a little late for this type of topic. But this isn't just for Brawl. It's for Smash Bros in general. (We all know it won't end with Brawl.)
