October 12th= pokemon reveal?

since toon link was revealed upon the release of WWhd in japan, will a pokemon smasher be revealed october 12th, since x and y releases worldwide that day? and if so, who will it be? jigglypuff? pokemon trainer? a completely new character? let me know what you think on this topic

I personally think we'll get a Nintendo Direct a little bit before the release of X & Y, which will probably include Lost World, A Link Between Worlds, Super Mario 3D World and Tropical Freeze info too. I can see Pokémon Trainer (or Jigglypuff) get revealed in a Nintendo Direct because of that, maybe even with a newcomer trailer. I can also see the site updating with Sonic too in late October much in the same fashion as Toon Link was just revealed.

Naa, I think they'll reveal it one or two days before the 12th. I just think it will bring more hype for everyone while we're still waiting for X/Y to release, especially if it's in the last couple days of waiting. That'll give us so much hype it'll cause eruptions in the earth's volcanic activity.

I am hoping and praying that Jigglypuff is the Pokemon representative revealed. It would make sense (after Toon Link's reveal anyways). Not to mention Jigglypuff is the only character in Smash (aside from Pichu) that changes costumes as opposed to changing colors. This would be a sweet Halloween gimmick. If they changed up Jigglypuff even the slightest (by adding a fairy move) we would have plenty of pictures to document some cool changes.

I actually think they will want to hold off on Mewtwo to build some hype. They would probably reveal Mewtwo closer to the release of Smash 4 or maybe even keep him a secret to unlock or discover in the game. I think they did that with Lucario in Brawl (I could be wrong, I am going off memory). Mewtwo is a big reveal, he is probably one of the most anticipated reveals. Do you really think we would get it this early?

That being said, I believe Lucario or Pokemon Trainer are possibilities. However, if they are going to correlate the launch of X and Y with a character, I think we can count Lucario out. Lucario is definitely popular, and he is getting his new Mega Evolution. So he is relevant, but I just think that with the launch of such an iconic franchise that they would pick an iconic character. Not to mention this could confuse people. They might think that Mewtwo isn't going to happen if they reveal the one that is COMMONLY associated as the replacement of Mewtwo. It wouldn't be a clear and concise reveal.

So Pokemon Trainer is more likely to be revealed if we are going on relevance alone. Lucario has a Mega Evolution, but all of the Kanto starters do as well. But when I think about it, wouldn't Sakurai want to build some hype around Pokemon Trainer as well? Not only is he probably the MOST iconic. He is also the master representative of Pokemon. He is at the top of a lot of peoples "cut" lists just because of the sheer amount of development required. If the roster isn't finished yet, I don't think Pokemon Trainer will be finished by October. Not to mention that is A LOT to show off. 3 different characters in one? The amount of pictures he would need to take to make the reveal seem meaningful would be absurd.

However, a lot of people are speculating that a Nintendo Direct will be happening in October. So a trailer might be released. I think a trailer would be the best way to market Pokemon Trainer. Especially if they replace Red with a new trainer. So if we get a trailer in October, Pokemon Trainer is probably going to be the most likely. If we just get a picture reveal like the rest? That would be fairly lackluster.

That being said... I think they are trying to save the big and interesting reveals for later. Closer to the games launch. We seem to be getting the obvious reveals as of yet. Nothing to surprising. Toon Link surprised some. However, if people realized that Spirit Tracks Link was different from Wind Waker Link... it would not have come as a shock. The Wind Waker stage in Brawl and Toon Link's baton taunt should have been enough to indicate that they were indeed different Links.

What is the last obvious reveal we are waiting for? Jigglypuff. She is one of the original 12, part of the Smash franchise for 13 and a half years. We have already gotten 2 Mario reveals and a Zelda reveal. So Nintendo's second biggest franchise is overdue. We are most definitely going to get a Pokemon reveal in October. Jigglypuff is probably the most likely by principle of omission. I doubt Pokemon Trainer is finished yet. I think they are saving Mewtwo for later. Lucario wouldn't be a good way to represent the launch of X and Y. Jigglypuff being one of the most important Pokemon during Generation 1 and most of Generation 2 is a decent choice.

Jigglypuff makes the most sense. It's new type makes it relevant again and reintroducing it on the site doesn't reveal to much about either game (Smash or X/Y.) Give it a new move that represents it's fairy typing (something similar to pound) and there you go: show off something new and hype for X/Y.

Anywho, I for one think there are far too many options for us to be certain which Pokemon will be revealed.

Mewtwo or Lucario have both gotten new Mega forms and important roles (to my knowledge they both have important roles in Pokemon X&Y) given this and how Mewtwo was greatly missed in Brawl, they could go for Mewtwo. Theres still the possibility of Lucario being revealed regardless.

Jigglypuff's priority could have easily shifted since Brawl, given how Toon Link was revealed. If she was included in the game, and even if she was low priority this could easily be disregarded if Toon Link was low priority again. Theres no way to tell if either of them were however, at least, not at the moment. Plus, this whole "Jigglypuff is a Fairy-type now" could still mean good things for her.

As for Pokemon Trainer, well, his three Pokemon are all rather unique characters, and, Charizard's popularity aside, they could reveal him for relevance, given the fact that his three Pokemon are the first starters in the series and thus the first Pokemon to be seen in the first few Pokemon games, giving them all some decent importance to the series. They could reveal Pokemon Trainer for relevance.

Heck, for all we know, they could just reveal every Pokemon rep around that time. I find that unlikely though.

Yeah very likely we'll see someone on the 11th I believe. Or maybe even the 10th or something since patterns aren't quite as solid as I'd expect, but...
Anyway people are saying Mewtwo or Lucario will be revealed and while I do think they'll return, if not Lucario Mewtwo for sure, they would probably remain unlockable characters and therefore not shown off.
So! I think it's either Jigglypuff since she has followed Luigi's patterns in the other games as Ness and Captain Falcon have followed each other, and she's fairy type and all that.
But it could also be a Pokemon Trainer! Might make more sense as it would be strange to see the Pokemon Trainer as an unlockable and having two Pokemon reps besides Pikachu shown off before release would be different and unpredictable. Sakurai likes that but still.
Sooo! I think it's a Pokemon Trainer! But which one? Of course I'd personally like to see the Hoenn Trainer most but that doesn't really matter: It's either the Kanto Trainer or the Kalos Trainer. Kanto's chances come from Pokemon Origins happening and that you can pick a Kanto starter in X&Y so he's rather relevant and wouldn't be too hard to imagine. Then it could be the Kalos Trainer because...well X&Y. And Pokemon Trainer definitely seems like a character that needs periodic updates since the games don't keep the same protagonist all the time. It would be great cross-promotion, something new, and a great way to reveal a final evolution (or all) the day before the games release!
I thought for the longest time it could be the Unova Trainer, but that doesn't make any sense...can you imagine seeing him/her followed by "Want to learn more about Unova Trainer? Check out the official sit for Pokemon X&Y!"
SO! Guess I'm placing my bets on Kalos Trainer. Been a while since we've seen a newcomer and this one will technically count as 3, the amount of newcomers we got last time. Hopefully they'll have Boy AND Girl colors!

A Pokemon is likely.. wouldn't be surprised to see Jigglypuff at the rate they're going, but also wouldn't be surprised to see any of the other Pokemon characters everyone else is suggesting (Lucario, Mewtwo, Pkmn Trainer).

What I do expect though, is for Sonic to be revealed near the release of Sonic Lost World (October 29). Sonic would, by far, build the most hype for Smash Bros., especially at a time of the year when they NEED to be selling Wii Us. The Xbox One and PS4 both come out in November and if they don't end up getting something out there to get people pumped up about the future of the Wii U, what's preventing them from losing this holiday season? Wouldn't be surprised with both Mewtwo and Sonic getting revealed in October, with newcomers in November and December.. possibly Dixie Kong and maybe Toad, who are both pretty popular and correspond with software releases. Just my two cents..

But Nintendo always seems to surprise me with their actions, so we will see.

The game comes out next year. Why would sakurai play his hand so soon. You're the one who clearly doesn't understand how to create hype. The daily pictures may not be the greatest but we all check for them everyday. That gets us hype. He explains a change to luigi, that gets us hype.

We are still a long way away from getting this game. What good would creating huge hype now? It would make more sense to drop a bomb shell closer to when the game is being released. Would keep that hype fresh and not a year old.

Lucario has gotten a Mega Evolution, which makes him relevant if that's what you're looking for, and is a completely unique character. He can easily co-exist with Mewtwo.

There's no reason we can't see this in Smash Bros:

I really don't see there being a new Pokemon rep. Every previous Pokemon character that has been in a Smash Bros game is relevant again (sans Pichu)...that's FIVE character slots. There's no need to throw a sixth into the mix.

OBJECTION! There are arguments for each of those ludicrous reasons (In order)!

1) What generation a Pokemon is from means absolutely nothing because of P.T. and his generation 1 Pokemon's appearance. Plus Mewtwo was planned for Brawl, which proves that point further.

2) Lucario is still one of the most popular Pokemon, so Lucario not being in any recent movies matters little. He also may have a starring role in the anime series, which is quite a big deal.

3) Mewtwo's Mega Evolution wasn't technically introduced as a Mega Evolution until the Pokemon team confirmed the Mega Evolution process, which had Mega Lucario confirmed at the same time.

4) The Pokemon Movie is centered around both the Genesect squad and Mewtwo. Just a brief clarification.

Pokémon Trainer is currently the most relevant character they can announce. We can't really determine that anymore at this point, we already saw Toon Link and Luigi, both who are traditionally unlockables. I don't think Toon Link was much of a special case anyways, asides from the fact he was used to promote Wind Waker HD.

Even then, my bet is still on Pokemon Trainer, mostly due to the Pokemon Origins special which makes him relevant again. I wouldn't necessarily count Mewtwo out, either, just leaning more towards Pokemon Trainer at this point. I wouldn't even be surprised at a possible Lucario announcement.

I'm still a little anxious that one of these guys could be taking the axe for the other two, but who knows.
