Firstly, I'll start off with two definitions(thanks to dictionay.com):

ob⋅serve -verb: to see, watch, perceive, or notice.
ob⋅serv⋅er –noun: someone or something that observes.

We, as humans, are natural observers. The entire base of Scientific Discovery comes from observing things.

Some people choose to pursue certain things, whether it be sports, art, or language. Some others, however, sit back and view the whole picture, not really becoming fluent in anything but gaining knowledge of many things. Either way, we learn from observing, and intentionaly or unintentionaly apply it to our lives.

Some believe the world is doomed, others think we can save ourselfs and reach salvation, and still others don't care. Regardless of such things, we still follow a path in life because of the things we observe.

Well, that's it. Superyoshi is done trying to have deep thoughts.

We are all doomed anyways. And lulz, Pichu is fun to play as. But if I was to ever go competitive, I would probably main Falco or Captain Falcon. Maybe Roy.

Empirically gaining understanding and knowledge (through using our senses) is not always right. There are obviously many truths that our senses cannot perceive.

Maybe rationality is the key to discovering the great philosophical questions: What is reality? What is my purpose?

But that much is obvious. The only use observing, and just observing, has is just at a most basic level of understanding. Appyling that understanding is what allows one to grow wiser.

A significant idea of quantum physics is that the observer has an effect on the observed. Just by the very act of observing light, scientists affect it. It makes me wonder whether my observing people has an effect on their lives. We all act differently when we believe that we are being observed, but are we changed by the the observer seeing us or hearing us? Pretty out there, but it gives me something to think about when I'm watching people. I'll sit there and wonder if my looking at them will affect them, and whether I'm being affected as well by an unseen observer as well.
