You're in charge of making a new eShop game in the same exact vein of Super Smash Bros. You have a 12-characters limit, but you can pick them from virtually any franchise you want (the more famous they are, the better it is though). You have another restriction: you CAN'T use the most famous characters from that particular franchise.
You want to use a Super Mario character? Well, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Bowser, and basically any other popular character from the franchise is out of the question. This can be subjective, but generally speaking, if a character has appeared in more than two games in the franchise, he's not eligible.
Oh, and you also can choose a max of 16 stages from that franchise. But yeah, they must be obscure locations too!
OH, AND EVERY STAGE AND CHARACTER MUST BE FROM A DIFFERENT FRANCHISE OR SUBFRANCHISE.
Let's see what you can do.

My roster:

1) From Super Mario, Il Piantissimo.
Il Piantissimo is fast, pretty strong but also little and easy to knock out. He can use Bowser Jr.'s paintbrush which he stole at the end of Super Mario Sunshine. His stronger attacks are the ones he makes after running for a bit, and generally he has a gimmick which makes him stronger the more he moves. He also launches fruits as normal attacks.

2) From F-Zero, Gomar & Shioh.
They are the Ice Climbers of this game. They fight dancing. Really hard to control, they're goofy and not particularly strong, but great for mind games. You control the tall one, when the short one is basically Nana.

3) From Resident Evil, The Merchant.
What are you buyin'? The Merchant can use every weapon he's hiding under is coat, making him a long-range fighter. Colt, Magnum, bazookas and knives are part of his moveset. He can even summon zombies (the Resi 4 iteration obviously) which help him against the opponents. He can plant mines and use Plagas as he wants.

4) From Pokémon, Old Man.
He's a summon character. Extremely weak and easy to knock out, he must rely on the Pokémons he summons to defend himself. These include creatures like Weedle (which poisons the opponent), Pidgey (which creates tornados with his wings and helps him recover), Metapod (which he can throw like a rock) or Magikarp (which does absolutely nothing). He also uses items from the franchise like potions and repellents.

5) From Sonic, Mighty The Armadillo.
This forgotten Sonic clone works similarly to Sonic. There is not much else to add.

6) From The Legend Of Zelda, Sparrot.
This little magician shows off new powers from the ones he had in Skyward Sword. He can teleport from a distance, erupt flames from the ground and thunders from the sky. He's actually pretty powerful, but since he floats in the air, very easy to throw away.

7) From StarFox, Queen Cloudrunner.
Since this character has wings, she can jump more than any other in the roster and has the glide ability. She can come back to the stage from almost everywhere. She's extremely goofy to the ground, with weak and slow attacks, but when in the air, she's the queen. She can also make aerial grabs which can be deadly.

8) From Kirby, HR-H.
It's a robot. This means he can shoot lasers, missiles and other projectiles. He's also the only characters in the roster which is a transformation character. Its second form is faster and stronger, but also unreliable and it's easy to kill yourself.

9) From Donkey Kong, Manky Kong.
Manky Kong is a dirty, stupid monkey which plays exactly like a monkey. He can throw poop like a projectile, but is more of a phisical character.

10) From EarthBound, Frank Fly.
He's a "sword" character, and uses his knives with grace. He can be compared to Marth.

11) From Pikmin, Olimar's Daughter.
No, she can't use Pikmins. She fights with girly toys and that's all.

12) From Banjo-Kazooie, Mildred The Ice Cube.
She has no limbs at all, making it really hard to predict her moves. She slides across the stage and can breathe ice to freeze opponents. While time passes by, she becomes more little because of melting. She's pretty heavy though.

PLEASE, DON'T MAKE THIS A LIST THREAD. PUT SOME WORDS AFTER YOUR SUGGESTIONS.

1) From StarFox, Bill Grey.
"Fox! That's one of ours!" Of course, he's got a space animal moveset, but he's more of a zoner. He can throw his shine and activate it mid air or just wait it sticks to the ground to surprise bystanders or just make awesome combos!

2)From Super Mario, Chargin' Chuck.
Your regular football coach turn Mario minion, he mostly charges and throw prolate spheroid balls (yeah, that's what's called the shape of the american football)

3)From Donkey Kong, Swanky Kong.
He attacks his foes with hard questions, that must be answered as quicly as possible! But you don't have time to ponder such questions, as Link has just grabbed a Smash Ball!

4)From F-Zero, Mr. Zero.
"You got boost power!" To continue the tradition of interchangeable movesets between the Zelda and F-Zero series, he's a clone of Sheik.

5)From Zelda, You.
I mean, the son of Darunia who has your name. The Smash Bros. series needs a goron as a playable character. He rolls over his enemies, stomps them like pancakes, and even got the butt attack from the goron mask in Majora's Mask!

6)From Kirby, Mr. Frosty.
He can't stand any longer being defeated and swallowed by kirby to become just another ice ability. Now he throws ice cubes and body slams his opponents in anger for all those years of being humiliated.

I'm down!
Characters

Starting Roster:

1) Kafei (The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask)
Hailing from Termina, Kafei Dons His Mask! He may look like a small child, but Kafei is not to be underestimated! He is fast on his feet and very agile, but also retains his strength from before he was cursed by Skull Kid. He fights with a small sword (with skill no doubt taught by a certain green-clothed companion), but also throws pots, soars through the air on a Cucco, and performs aerial backflips. Of course, he can also don his Keaton's mask to gain an additional boost in speed, a Gibdo's mask to increase his strength, or the couple's mask to fortify his defense.

2) Tryclyde (Super Mario Bros 2)
The three-headed snake surfaces! Tryclyde Brings The Heat! This monster is a slow and heavy character, but he can dish out pain with three heads striking one after another with powerful bites. He can also shoot fireballs from his mouths and toss heavy toadstool blocks with his tail. But most impressive is that he can hold three items at once, once in each mouth, allowing him to strike with three different items in rapid succession.

3) Stanley (Donkey Kong 3)
The greenhouse protector steps out of his element to join the fray. That's right, Stanley Exterminates! The bug buster readies his trusty Bug Spray Gun to fire blasts of gas at his enemies. He can also use a match to turn his spray gun into a flamethrower! But that's not all; he can also toss beehives (filled with angry bees, of course) at his enemies. Sticky honey slows the down, while the angry insects sting them repeatedly for damage.

4) Katt (Star Fox 64)
Make way! Katt Soars Into Battle! She is a cocky pilot and her fighting style reflects her brash attitude. This feisty feline is a master of fast feet and fast attacks. Besides lightening fast kicks, she uses her blaster to fire lasers at her enemies and can also toss smart bomb-like grenades for a higher-impact hit. She can even speed around in a hover-bike modeled after her ship, the Cat's Paw. Oh, and an alternate skin for her is her original pink fur.

5) Todd Snap (Pokemon Snap)
Why just photograph or battle Pokemon when you can do both? Todd Snap Pictures His Victory! This plucky lad comes armed with his trusty camera that can give off a bright flash when used, dazing his opponents. Or he can toss a pester ball at them for damage that accumulates over time. Or play his Poke Flute to call a Pokemon into battle to fight with him. And of course, the ZERO-ONE makes an appearance in his Final Smash.

6) Mii Conductor (Wii Music)
Who needs a Gunner, Brawler, or Swordfighter when you have a Conductor? Mii Conductor Strikes Up The Band! He may not be familiar with combat, but that won't stop him from trying! Armed with his conducting baton, he will release flying musical notes, fling out sheet music, and send enemies flying with a powerful crescendo. He can also summon in some instruments for additional attacks, like a maracas that hit multiple times and cymbals that delver a powerful smash attack when they clang. And yes, a female conductor skin is available too.

7) Vent/Aile (Mega Man ZX)
Give me the power to protect everyone! Vent Rocks On! Vent actually has two forms he can use; he can megamerge between Model X, which allows him to shoot his X-Buster and release charges shots and Model Z, where he attacks with his Z saber. For a final smash, he combines the two for a double megamerge; Model ZX! Plus, Pseudoroid powers are also at his disposal for special attacks, like Icicle Spear, Lightning Drill, Flame Charge, and Surface-To-Air Missles! Aile is available as an alternate character for Vent with identical attributes.

8) Simirror (Kirby Super Star)
Big magic in a small package; Simirror Doubles Down! What this little guy lacks in strength and defense, he makes up for in tricky magical prowess. His wand can create a near invisible blade to slice through enemies, but can also be used to form a protective barrier that will stop all attack short and reflect projectiles back at their owner with increased damage. Simirror can additionally splint into two mirror images and fire out into two different directions before returning, striking enemies in front and behind you. And his move set rounds out with a counter move, creating an illusionary copy of himself to take the hit before returning the favor.

Unlockable Roster:

9) Palla (Fire Emblem Gaiden)
The eldest Whitewing sister arrives from afar. Palla Takes Flight! Equipped with her mighty lance, her reach is unprecedented and helps make up for her lack of projectiles. She can block attack and return them in kind, run an enemy through and toss them aside, or charge into battle with her javelin held out in front of her. She favors aerial combat, but can hold her own on the ground. Her armor protects her from damage, but also slows her land speed. Of course, she is a Pegasus Knight, so her steed comes to her aid during her Final Smash.

10) Amiti (Golden Sun: Dark Dawn)
A prince from a mysterious kingdom, an ancient power in his veins...Amiti Plays It Cool! This Aqua Squire carries a staff that he uses to fend off opponents, but only resorts to physical means if necessary. Instead, her prefers to unleash powerful water and ice based attacks. He can wash opponents away with a mighty wave or trap them in deluge of rainfall from a summoned raincloud. He can also fling sharp icicles as projectiles or cause sharp spikes of ice to erupt from the ground. To top it off, he can even create a Ply Well on the ground, a spot he can stand in to slowly recover health.

11) Trace (Metriod Prime Hunters)
In his quest for the Ultimate Power, Trace Hunts Down His Prey! The cold, swift Kriken bounty hunter attack with ferocious, powerful strikes from his sharp appendages. His armor also protects from from attacks and prevents him from being launched away. He is just as dangerous from a distance, when he snipes his enemies with his laser, the Imperialist. He can even turn invisible for a short period to get himself in the perfect position. His final smash has him turning into the Triskelion to lunge at his enemies for strong hits.

12) Will (Advance Wars: Days of Ruin)
March to the field of Battle! Will Goes To War! The newest CO for the 12th Battalion stands strong, but doesn't do much fighting himself. Instead he relies on foot soldiers, tanks, and choppers to do the fighting for him. He uses miniaturized version of these units in battle; soldiers march forward and shoot pellets at enemies, tanks drive around firing missles, and planes drop bombs as they fly above. Fill the battlefield with your army and win through sheer numbers!
