NYC newbie looking for some casual local tourneys to meet people and get better.

Hi Smashboards!

Just quick I've watched competitive Melee for a long time but only recently decided to pick up Smash 4 and try my hand at playing that. I know the NYC scene is pretty good and I've already spotted some good looking local events in the events tab. Just wanted to say hi and would love any and all advice for going forward.

Also should note I put NYC in the title because it's easily recognizable but I actually reside in Staten Island. Thanks!
