NY: Long Island Wainscott proposed tournament.

I want to meet up with some more players out here and I'm curious how many might be able to make it out towards the end of long island/ towards LI in general for a tourney. I'm a smash board newb working my way through all the threads and stickies so I'm somewhat aware of what I'm proposing. A tourney out here would be fun. I've got three big screens in the house and a few friends interested in a smash tourney. At this point I'm really just curious with who else might be curious this summer. I can bed up to three people and house up to 30 if you bring sleeping bags/ food. Let me know who's out there and I'll work on structuring something.

I remember seeing vids of pc chris, m2k and all that crew playing a LI tourney a year or two back but I'm a little skeptical that people would be willing to work their ways past the first half of long island for a tourney hosted by a first time smashboard poster. Meet ups for fun are cool too but I'd like to try and get some prize money going to help convince more competitive players to stop in.

I underestimate how big LI is sometimes- I'm from Nassau and I can reach other states faster that I can reach Wainscott lol. It is Summer though, if you set sometime up and post it ahead of time I will definitely try to get out there.

lol, alright. yeah, li is way bigger than people give it credit for. If you know anyone else out in nassau who would be interested in this tourney then try carpooling.

I was thinking of setting up fliers around my town as well so we'd probably be seeing a fair amount of amateurs. The more people that enter the bigger a pot for prize money I can get going but right now I can guarantee a pot of say $30

I head back to school mid august so Im not sure about something then. The tournament I'm suggesting would be melee with standard mlg rules probably sometime in july. Like I said, I have three big screens and would be willing to house around 30 people for a night. I don't expect numbers like that but it's possible if I have responsible/ willing participants. I've never hosted a tourney but like I said I'm going through the threads trying to get it all down and planning on having this in july so there's plenty of time. At this point I just want to know whose interested...

...and sorry for not mentioning the game but I honestly don't play anything other than Melee

Edit: Oh I see Melee Get in touch with Codi(thats his name on the boards) he holds smashfest in Manorville which isn't far from you at all. Pretty much everyone that plays melee on Long Island has been there by now.
