NTSC brawl freezing with skins

i used usb loader gx to install the ntsc version of brawl onto a external harddrive i used wbfs manager to move the iso onto my computer and used wii scruber 1.4 to replace the files it worked but some of the skins just kill the music in the character select menu then freeze the game when i try to continue to the level select screen i tried the SD card way before i tried this way i could never get the SD card way to work if anyone knows why my game keeps on freezing and how to fix it i would appreciate it.

1.4 is very unstable, especially when replacing big/lots of files. Use 1.21, it's the slowest, but safest.

it worked for me thanks only problem i seem to have now is marth dose not like custom skins but i can live without having his looks altered
