Noticed something unusual in the Direct that I've never heard mentioned.

I was watching an analysis of the Assist Trophies shown in the April Direct, and during the segment on Color-TV Game 15, I noticed something odd. Skip to about 15:40 and watch. When DK respawns, he returns to the game with 30% damage. For the life of me, I can't remember whether this is an effect caused by using Handicap in Brawl. If so... Handicap confirmed!!!!! Yay...?

If that's not handicap, then I got nothing.

Thought it might be a special mode, but Handicap seems more likely.

And while I appreciate your concern, if this is in the wrong place, which I strongly doubt, I'm sure the kind and helpful moderators will see fit to inform me.

Well.. the game is still in development, so something strange could have happened, or like you suggested, handicap.

I dunno, and I can't be bothered to walk upstairs and turn my console on to check.

I don't really think this thread merits too much discussion. Figured I'd just post it as a minor addition to what we know about the game. There is basically nothing to go off of other than DK spawning at 30%. It's safe to assume it's handicap. 'Nuff said.

The handicap in Brawl worked the same way. You just spawned already damaged, rather than having an extra knockback multiplier. So, as it's been suggested, that's probably what we were shown there.

When in training mode, you can set the cpu damage to a specific amount. When the cpu dies, they go to whatever you set the % to instead of 0. I assume this is what that was?

I suppose it could have been training mode, but I would bet on Handicaps being a returning feature. There is no reason to suspect that they would remove it. Good catch though, I did not notice it myself.

I prefer adjusting different starting stock like in PM. Though that only works for stock matches though.

The only way to play, anyway.
