Usually, well I should say lately (as in the last few years) my birthday is typically uneventful. Never have enough money to do anything lol But today, well today was a great birthday. My 401k dispersal had gotten deposited just 2 days ago, so being about 1200 bucks richer was a nice change of pace. My wife and I went to lunch and movie, kinda bland to some perhaps, but it's been ages since we've been out on a date.

Dinner -was- going to be at the new Olive Garden but with an hour wait I was like, no lets go get some Chinese. Went to the Beijing Super Buffet, which I wasn't sure would be any good it being the 2nd time we've eaten there (the first time was eh, ok but not great) but it was awesome. Must be their Sunday selections or something, cause it was packed. My wife didn't scoff at the fish head on my plate (I always go for the whole fish dishes, cause my Cantonese grandfather used to prepare them for me) because it's my day and she wanted me to enjoy it. At first she looked like she was going to vomit but I quickly liberated the meat off the fish skeleton and had it removed from the table, and she was ok.

After a good meal we went to see Paranormal Activity. My wife was nervous at first, she doesn't like scary movies, but I convinced her it'd be ok. ^^;

Wow! Not a bad flick. Not since Blair Witch Project have I enjoyed this type of movie. Of course I enjoyed Blair Witch cause -I- went in thinking the whole thing was real. It wasn't until several days later when my friend ruined it for me by telling me it was all fake that I liked it a little less, but only a little, still think it's a darn good movie, just not scary now that I know it's fake.

This one I knew was fake... but I still enjoyed the subtle approach, the build up, and the realistic camera action. I did NOT care for the motion, however. I actually started to get queasy about half way through, and considered leaving before throwing up, lol But I stuck it out.

I researched the movie a bit online, turns out the theatrical release's ending is only one of 3 endings that were filmed. The other 2 are a little longer (and better). If anything this movie was an A-, falling short due to the queasy motion, and fairly cheesy ending. Funny how the last 30 seconds of a film can potentially ruin the whole thing, but I digress.

And to top the day off, I have a yummy home made pound cake my mother in law baked for me. Yummmm it's her best thing she bakes. Unlike most recipes hers employs a dash of lemon extract and vanilla extract, giving it a nice sweet and fruity appeal. ... *(goes to have some)*
