So a few of you asked me to look for tickets, so starting today I'll just be doing general searches for decent prices. Anything I find will be listed below:

258 is doing two one way flights if you want to know which just PM me. Also if your willing to do this and don't mind flying back into San Jose the price is 247 Round Trip.

Southwest is higher but you have the luxury of getting two free checked bags. Also flying out of Oakland for Southwest is the same price. Don't forget you can also bid on Priceline which if your lucky might knock the price down to the 220-230 range or lower.

Joe, bing predicts that the price will rise with 80% confidence. Personally I think it may drop.

Also I'm not 100% sure that LGA(LaGuardia) is the best airport as it may be JFK, but Alukard doesn't specify any airport so I went on a whim.

LGA is on the outskirts of town which made getting picked up from it during traffic times better

but it's like 2 hours away from the tourney so you wanna make sure you can get rides from there before you go, i heard there is an airport closer but i don't remember which one

and peter, do you think there will be a big price increase by late september? i'm debating if i wanna wait to see my class schedule to make sure i'm not gonna get screwed, or if i just wanna buy sooner to save money and pray for the best

In regards to airports:

The distances below are straight-line estimates. If you are planning a trip, check the exact driving distance to/from the airport.

The closest major airport is LaGuardia Airport (LGA / KLGA). This airport is in New York, New York and is about 23 miles from the center of Nanuet, NY.

Another major airport is Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR / KEWR), which is in Newark, New Jersey
and is 28 miles from Nanuet, NY.

John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK / KJFK) is in New York, New York and is 33 miles from Nanuet, NY.


Personally MacD I'd wait till you know your school schedule, ticket prices vary a lot for me to try and estimate but in the past I have been able to find = or better prices within 2 months of travel time(this is norcal and it was for Pound 4/VLS). My guess is that it will be around $30-$50 more if there is an increase but I don't forsee it jumping higher than that. Especially considering the prices you listed below.

Also doing just a quick search for Socal Airports into NY airports I found a 321 for fri-mon, and it says to wait with about 80% confidence that the fares will lower. (Check Southwest as for once they might be lower.)

As I'm going to sleep right now the ticket prices for SFO-LGA Fri-Mon no stops are holding at 261.

Has anyone from norcal booked yet?

I'm looking to fly there thursday or friday (preferably thursday night redeye)

As far as coming back, i was going to spend thanksgiving in the area with my family, so I doubt anyone wants to share a return flight

I'm pretty price indifferent; I'm willing to shell out an extra fifty bucks to fly with some pretty cool dudes

Also as a potential bonus, my parents say they might be moving to a place in NY, which would be about 15 mins from the venue, so I might be able to house a small handful too!

if it's hugely relevant, I prefer to leave out of SJC (San Jose) and arrive in EWR (Newark) or HPN (White Plains/Westchester), but I could make my peace with any of the other 4 major airports in question too (SFO, OAK, LGA, JFK)

tl;dr - I want to share a flight out, either thursday night or some time friday; if you're already booked or booking soon, update this thread or something!

Apologies for not updating the thread over the weekend but I was out of town.

Kevin I did a search out of San Jose into EWR with flexibility on only the EWR side and a direct flight is 300 if you return Weds 12/1(its 2 bucks cheaper if you fly out of LGA on the way back). I also did a search for a return the Monday after Thanksgiving(November 29th) and it was and the lowest flight was 554(obviously because of the holiday). Without a specific return date I can't give you much other than wait until the following Weds at least as its a drop of 254 dollars.


Everyone else, the 261 is still there for direct flights out of SFO to LGA and unless someone else has a specific request like Kevin did, I won't do to much digging outside of that.
