hi getting in to smash 64 and there is something i cant figure out. I play fox and have been working on shines but when i watch people do it it takes max 4 to 6 frames for the shien to start and finish. but while i play my shines seem to take up a crapload more. im sure there is something that i am missing and if you have an idea of what im doing wrong please let me know

Luigi sucks
We shine cancel. In smash 64, your shine is cancelled once you land on the ground with it, so you have to jump and immediately shine. You can slide your thumb from the upper c button to b to do this. Won't take long for you to get the timing. Good luck!

To me, 64 is basically all of the Brawl footsies with some simplification in tech/options and a more assured combo system. If you like one you'll probably enjoy the other. If you haven't already, read some of the stickied threads, especially "The Index." Online play is a viable option, but not everyone enjoys it. At least give it a shot first. If you have any more questions like this, we have a dedicated Q&A thread (also stickied). Welcome to the boards.

Bold claim friend...
Yeah, I guess so. I just really like all of Smash. I think there ought to be a decent overlap of people liking Brawl also liking 64, but it may not go the other way. Some Brawl players may also prefer the ability to reset to neutral rather than being punished severely for individual mistakes.

how would i go about using a controler for online i cant imagine keyboard and mouse would be a viable option
N64 controllers with ****ty adaptors, 360 controllers, ps3 controllers, hori controllers (google it), keyboard, w/e you can image.

All these questions can mostly be answered in the stickied threads, theres a "ask a question" thread for questions like these, and the index has most all the information, like the answer to this question, in it.
