NOOB INCOMING!

Hello everyone! can't tell you all how happy I am to be finally putting myself out there and introducing myself on these boards! I've been lurking Smashboards for a while now and i haven't really done much other than look up the occasional guide so this is admittedly a big step for me. I'm a disgruntled Marth main looking to better himself and meet some good people with similar interests. I'm looking to get good enough to attend tournaments soon and I'm hoping that smash boards will be a part of that progression! I'm into anime/cartoons and all of that business but video games occupy most of my time. id love to get some advice on how to get started here if thats cool with all of you, but firstly I have a question that I really need help with.

When is the best time to start attending tournaments? I've been playing smash 4 since the game came out and I've only just recently started to get competent enough that i think i could go. I'm just worried id go out there and embarrass myself.

Any help would be appreciated. If by some chance asking a question in this thread is against board rules mods can just DM me and ill edit the post accordingly.

heh what can i say? i guess i just have a lot of character loyalty... I'm a huge Fire Emblem nerd. its definitely a hard knock life though... getting bodied by Roy can be especially heartbreaking but then on the other hand i get a great sense of accomplishment out of winning with a character that isn't as straightforward as others. i have other characters i play and i even switched to Roy for a little while but i always come back to Marth... I'm hopeless lol

*edit* and on a side note I have played other smash games but i was so unforgivably bad at them that i don't even show my mains for those games. so in essence this is my first TRUE smash experience besides screwing around in Melee and Brawl way back when.
