Does anyone know any good guides to help teach people how to get into pm/brawl modding? Any topic would be helpful and any site is fine. Just want to start but I haven't found any great starter guides

The guide that got me into PM modding is a series of videos by @Arkhamael

Search "Arko" on youtube and find a playlist called "PM Modding Lessons". They don't explain how to make mods, but they do explain how to install mods. That's where i'd start, to be honest.

Hopefully they will help you get into modding.

The forums on Brawl Vault are great resources. Are you interested in creating mods, or putting in mods in general?

Anything and everything, like I would like to get to bagan's point but i know im FAR away from that level
Setting a big goal (perhaps bigger than you think) and tackling it by learning "anything and everything" without a proper strategy probably isn't the best way to do it. I recommend starting off a little "smaller", for example replacing a character's costume in Project M 3.6. (A place that a lot of people start, I think.) There's bound to be some guides for that. Head over to BrawlVault where you can find a bunch of character costumes. Once you do replace costumes, you'll probably be wanting to replace their pictures that appear in-game. You can learn that here.

Not too complicated stuff. This'll help familiarize yourself with the parts that make up a custom Project M build, as well as knowing what files a character uses.

I can contest that making big goals is not the right way to start something new off. It's way too overwhelming and unnecessary. The OP should try to even see if they like to mod this stuff in the first place.

My suggestion is think of the process, not the product. You should at the least be enjoying your time modding. When I first started off modding, my only goal was to customize stages with music. I thought it was fun listening to all my music and matching tracks I like with the aesthetics of stages, because I already have a hobby in listening to music. That way, it wasnt stressful meeting "deadlines" or what have you.

Try to start small and work from there. Don't rush your progress. Instead, slow down and figure out what you want to mod first. Everybody here started off the same way, just like in every other profession.

I wanted to start with something small, specifically replacing ganons down taunt sword attack with his neutral b, and there some other stuff I want to change. Basically I want to learn psa editing, but I will also learn costumes and skins
