No option to enable equipment / custom specials seperately

It should come to your attention that there is no option to disable equipment while enabling custom specials. As of the time of this post your options are both or neither.

I'm a person who plays matches online with complete strangers in with friends mode. I love the idea of the alternate B moves but I do not like equipment. Currently my only options are rely on honesty or play without customizations altogether.
There is no way to enforce a house rule like this either. I don't even think it tells you if they're using equipment. I honestly don't see a reason this option should be omitted.
Perhaps there is a way to gain the attention of the Smash Bros developers and have the option implemented through a patch.

Does anybody else share these sentiments? How would I go about grabbing their attention if such a thing is possible? Do they have a way to take suggestions?

I think they should add this option in an update in the future, yeah.

It's a bit annoying when you enjoy one part and dislike the other...

I absolutely agree. I can't see myself ever using equipment and don't want to play against people who use equipment, but would also love to use and play against custom moves as much as possible. The two forms of customisations are totally different in the ways that they each affect the game; bundling them together only ends up limiting both.

The equipment icon is colored when equipment is selected. Not sure what happens when stats are negative/zero.

If you wanted to implement only custom specials, it's pretty easy to keep tabs on. Custom characters have a little badge that shows how much of a Brawler/Defender/Speedster they are that splits into pies based on the equipped Equipment. If no Equipment is added, then the badge is grey and "Balanced."

That badge doesn't show up in For Friends, due to the blind pick. I agree, the option to toggle those individually would be great. Honesty aside, some of my friends just haven't made any custom sets WITHOUT stats, so when we play with customs they've gotta play default (since it takes a while to un-customize).

Yeah, tell me about it. The menus for customization felt pretty clunky and slow to top it off. I'm not the type to have a main and making custom move sets with and without stats for both occasions takes quite a while when you're interested in 90% of the cast.

Yeah, this needs to happen, I hate that when I practice against computers, I have to manually pick their default setup, in which case I can't practice against custom moves. I guess I could just sell all of my equipment, but I'm a hoarder in games when I comes to things like that (I have the maximum amount of weapons in KI:U :p)
