It seems in tied matches the game now gives the win to the person who had the highest damage given. It no longer goes to sudden death. Whats up with that?

D: Why would you lie to me! I am now making a petition to bring Sudden death back even if it`s just as a alternate mode!

Well I have looked on the known bug list and its not currently considered a known bug... I have reported it just in case this was not a purposeful change. Either way its fine... but I do love my sudden death rounds...

This is why we can't have nice things.

But I do have nice things!

Anyway, I wonder if that's a side effect of turbo mode? Also, what happens if both people tie on damage given as well? =)

I don`t think something that specific is a bug.

It could be a bug. Depends on how the logic that sets off the sudden death event is written. If some variable changed so an "if" statement isn't read properly it might default to go into the end sequence instead of kicking off the sudden death round.. The game may have preset fall backs for sort ordering the opponent objects, and then it just picks whomever is in the first slot on the order stack. I don't know how PM or Smash brawl is programmed though. So its pure speculation.

I think it's intentional. Ties are determined like that in actual tournaments IIRC, so they probably designed it like that to make it better for tournament organizers.

This, it's understandable.
I bet they'd have both options if they could, but it'd likely be out of their power.

It's not a bug. Sudden Death froze the game so it was decided to mitigate that by making the choice you see right now.

God damn, it's got to be such a pain to be a coder sometimes. You build all these awesome features and then find out you break the most unexpected or inane parts of the game.

That's a shame, sudden death was always fun. Not that it matters too much since the majority of people who play Project M plays stock matches anyways.

Im a big fan of timed free for alls. It lets everyone play without having to sit out. That being said, Id rather the game work than crash so, such is the way of things. Ill miss Sudden Death, but maybe they will fix it in future iterations. If not, oh well.

Can you confirm that the victory always goes to the player who did the most damage, and not some other factor? If so, that's a pretty good choice I think, it rewards aggressive play and punishes scavengers who sit back waiting safely for high percent targets. Sudden Death is an odd thing to break now, though. I'm guessing that having characters reload for the Sudden Death was messed with by the Clone Engine? Regardless it's a pretty cool workaround, thanks for being awesome, PMBR.

It's the life of a programmer. Make something cool or new and it breaks something else. Try to find out what actually causes it and you repeat the cycle. You get used to it. :p

Ahhh, okay.

It cost me in a game of Turbo Mode, though. I killed my brother on the training stage (it was the behind the screen super high death) and because that animation took so long, he died after the timer on his final stock.

Then, he won.

It really doesnt cost any one any game, as far as Im concerned. When my friend and I tied and it gave me the winn, I just turned to him and said well... we know we tied... I only miss that sudden death was fun to play. Is what it is.

Doesn't this mean you can have the highest KO score and lose? what are the scores even for then? Wouldn't it be better to have the person with the lowest % win in the case of tied KO scores?

In the event of a true tie port priority decides the victor.

How sad. Sudden Death has always been one of the most fun random things to have happen in big matches. I understand the change if it breaks the game, though. Giving the win to whoever has port priority in the case of a tie, however, is fairly dumb. Should just be a tie in that case. No reason to give control freaks any more reason to scream about how they need to be first player.
