Now, before any of you pull the "You clearly don't watch enough competitive Smash" responses, I can actually name people who play these characters, but for all of them, very little. These both reflect what I see on streams, as well as my personal play experience.

These characters are the ones I feel need more playtime from the community. It's strange how some of these characters were played frequently in their Melee and Brawl incarnations, but were abandoned in Project M. I don't believe in the whole, "They changed them too much" perspective, because I mained Snake and Ike in Brawl, and adapted to their changes in Project M. Granted, those characters were buffed, and some of these like Peach, Toon Link, and Olimar were nerfed, but that perspective is irrelevant as well. Ganondorf was one of my mains in Melee. He was garbage in Brawl, but guess what, I still mained him. People have been using low tier characters in tournies from the getgo, and this game is far more balanced, so that excuse is invalid in my eyes.

Honestly, if people used these characters more, they might discover something new. Now that my rant is over, what characters do YOU believe are severely ignored, for any reason? Do you main any of these characters?

Discuss.

Also, like TK even mentioned this week at S@X, squirtle may be played but he is the most neglected character in the game right now. His forum is literally the most dead of any of the character forums, squirtle has amazing and sophisticated movement options that take as much time as a spacie to master, but because when so many people pick him up they use Withdraw (over-B) they destroy all of their movement options, never getting the chance to learn them. Because of the inherent easy-mode of withdraw the squirtle metagame is in shambles with only a handful of players who post/discuss/understand squirtle as a character. This is particularly stupid because W/draw is just plain bad when used on the ground (outside of tech chases, but even then it's not the best option, wavedash to armor frame d-smash), it's a move to be used in the air only as shield pressure and combo glue.

The move needs it's turnaround on the ground either taken out or drastically reduced in speed so people start getting punished for spamming it. It's bad practice, it's bad play, it's ruining the character.

See, this is why people need to read warchamp's changelog when he updates the site.
So basically, this is updated for every reported bracket? (Bar Wars, Fight Pit, Smash @ Xanadu every week, etc, etc, etc)

Pretty awesome. Still not 100%, given the unreported matches that are offline, but who cares about those? lol Gotta say, this is pretty cool. Glad to see that majority of my complaints are reflected in this list, save for Zero Suit.

No love for pika. I fought a good one yesterday and I was amazed. He has a lot of potential with incredible movement, good gimping tools, and strong usmash.

Pika was always good - I don't get why people don't play him. Also, I see Ness as a pretty good character - it may just be me, but I have the hardest time fighting Ness, I mean the only fault I really see with him is can have a tough time recovering since he can be gimped easily. But so can my character, so...
wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwWTF? Where did you get THIS!? :D
Also, where did hey get the statistics from? This is beyond interesting.
Speaking of which, I saw Roy has a fair amount of use - I wish they were on streams more or at least VGBC there's almost none.

My city is having a tournament may 15th, we stream at http://www.twitch.tv/olympiasmashers Shadic will be at the tournament and on the stream, he is the PMBR member who designed roy so if you want to see some roy you can check our stream out from 4pm - 10pm.

At Smashing Grounds in Massachusetts, it seems like half of the people there have a pocket Roy.

the dooze crew is out here

but also I have a pocket olimar
I'm not sure whether olimar is actually good or if people just don't know the matchup but I have some success with oli, especially against projectile characters that shut down my ddd like link.

I sorta doubt he'll use Roy - I don't know him well at all, but I've never seen anything from him about Roy. I could be totally wrong though. I'll keep that link bookmarked though.

Shadic doesn't really post on visible forums much (being a shady PMBR dev), so it's not an indication of who he plays. Here are his stated mains on the olympia social group.

I am not in Brawl and I find that highly offensive.

As for me, I guess:

Thank god there's no love for Yoshi. He's a friggin nightmare to fight. Combos my Tink (and my Lucas, any my Shiek, and everything else) so hard. ZSS has nasty combo game too, it's pretty sick.

Samus probably has the most untapped potential. For nearly every character, there's at least one guy who's godlike with them; Samus has no dedicated mains as of now. And the only one that crosses my mind is Esam, but we haven't seen him ever since Apex. Here's hoping he reveals some cool stuff with her in the near future.

Yoshi is being developed don't worry, just not by anyone note worthy :O

Squirtle's crawl tilt is godly and needs to be used

I love Yoshi, so much room for good play. V3ctorman has mentioned him working on PM Yoshi, but I think it's hard to get footage since he's fairly isolated. Daftatt, you're the one who's basically driving squirtle boards right? I've been following the matchup post you made and it's good stuff. I apologize for not contributing more, but i haven't been focusing on squirtle as much lately

ehh, I post occasionally, right now I just compile footage from my weeklies that I think illustrate a good use of a move, like dair for gimping tether users or something. I'll be posting a lot more after I run my first tournament later this month, I've been busy being a stream tech and TO. BUT, I will be posting some good tips on using turn around attack and Shellshift grab for tech chases on fox later this week, as well as a comprehensive guide on how to shut down ever single recovery option fox has.

that sounds like a good thing to know lol, I'm a firm believer that squirtle can eat tether recoveries.

I don't get why people don't play Samus very much either. ._. She is just so damn great, just her super wave-dash alone I'd think would attract more players. It is such a fun little tool, and the fact she can make adjusting to hard with her beam swap ability - even if it is kind of a hassle in an actual match.
