The Nintendo rep at my Best Buy said (after the game froze for some reason, nothing really triggered it) that they don't release E3 demos on the eShop because it's possible for demos to brick systems, and they'd rather have the demo brick their own system if something goes wrong. So, for those of you wondering, that's why you can't play Smash U from the comfort of your couch at the moment.

Any information is good at the moment, still though I'm glad they're actually considerate of fans. That'd be a lotta refurbishing if they release a brick worthy game.

Solution: make better demos. Last time I checked, my Wonderful 101 Demo is still working just fine.

Considering that there were some isolated reports of Mario Kart 8 having a system bricking bug a few weeks back, I can probably see why Nintendo is reluctant to offer its demos on the eShop.
