Nintendo Female Characters???

Well, please note the question marks on the thread's title... I've been having hard time wondering about which female character would actually make it in... Then I thought to myself "What female characters are there anyways???" Sakurai did say himself he wanted more female characters in the game, but somehow I can't really imagine so many... Going into the theory that a character must play a large role in her game, the numbers have kinda slim down to very few females... Amazingly Samus, Zelda, Peach, and the TP's Midna (not sure of this Lyn character from FE since I didn't play it) is all I could think of, but is there someone you know of great importance in their game that makes them truely worthy of SSBB???

So please do not spam of 3rd party and way off the party characters...


Back to the topic, the roster for females is quite small... Other characters I could think of is of Golden Sun... Though, Mia isn't what I call important since all you get her at the Mercury Temple when in fact you just needed a bottle of water... As for Jenna, people keep complaining about the whole "Too much fire!!!" thing...

Krystal remains the single most important Nintendo female character not already in Melee. Midna, Sami, and Lyn also are notable.

It's the old title IX thing. Is it more chauvinist to patronize [or matronize] women by artificaially inflating their importance, or to do nothing about a situation that is currently male dominated. It's a pretty tricky situation that probably doesn't have an immediate solution. I can tel you two things, though. We need to include any sucessful female characters around, such as Zelda and Samus and maybe the somewhat damselly Peach. We also should stop condoning these hypersexualized and objectified women such as DOA girls. Although the converse of the latter is also true. Strong female characters don't need to be neutered and without sexuality. Women can be sexual creatures and interesting people. It's not one or the other. I prfere a Kaylee to a Janeway any day, but also I prfer aJAneway to a Lara Croft.

Girls who play really are fine with some male characters like kirby, pikachu, jigglypuff, those kind of characters. Yeah, I think they need some more female characters, but I cant really think of any that would fit besides maybe krystal but then again im guessing there are more guys that play super smash bros than girls.

They really should not put much sexuality into it. I mean seriously, my 8 year old cousin loves the game and im guessing a ton of the sales are from kids just like him. Also nintendo isnt too huge on sex appeal. So yea, I think little to no sexuality would be nice.

Silent Hill probably has the best Female leads ever.

Heather (Silent Hill 3) Is attractive, but not in a brazen, over stimulated way. Her clothes are don't particularly show off any curves or anything, but it still shows that she makes an effort to appear attractive (with the short skirt) like any woman would do.

Mary and Maria (Silent Hill 2) are cool too. Maria IS somewhat oversexualized, but the reason behind that is that

She is the walking personification of James' Perfect Woman, which is basically Mary plus Leopard print mini-skirt and bare midriff

And James' Wife Mary is also attractive, but she's at least believable, and she's also shown several times as being sick and deformed.

Silent Hill 1 and 4 also had some good female leads as well, in Cybil (The cop) and Henry's love interest, But Heather and Mary/Maria are the coolest ones.

Too bad Silent Hill is totally inappropriate for Smash Bros for several reasons.
