I saw on a site before the top-voted popular characters in the GBA Fire Emblem games according to Japan. They voted Nino as their #1 choice, not Lyn. I know Sakurai said he didn't want Japan-only characters or choose solely on Japan's opinion, but Nino was in the first U.S. Fire Emblem game, and he DID only ask Japan for their opinions back in June, so there is a chance he put her in...If someone could get the link for the site with the Japanese FE character poll mentioned earlier, it would be great...

Anyways, Nino is a child who excels in magical abilities, and she's considered to be the best mage in the game. Some moves she can use:

- Fire (fireball rises to head-level from ground in front of her and is shot at opponent diagonally downward)
- Elfire (more powerful version of fire, but I believe it is shot straight forward, not diagonally)
- Thunder (lightening strikes the opponent)
- Bolting (lightening strikes a distant opponent)

After you promote her at Lv.10 or higher, she can use staffs which vary in use. Just to name some:

- Barrier (creates defensive barrier)
- Sleep (puts opponent to sleep)
- Silence (prevents opponents from using magic)
- Heal/Mend/Physic (can heal ally, or in this case, ally in a Team Battle or even self)

She's a kid, so she would be a little bit shorter than Pit. Here's a pic (Note: she looks taller than she really is since for some reason, the kids have long legs in official FE art...):

Micaiah is the only viable magic user to be included in brawl. Nino isn't even a lord for god's sake. Frankly I'd be insulted if Nino got in when she's a character of almost no importance to FE7 ( ok well she has twins that turn out to be very good magic users in FE6 but that's not the point).

Micaiah is who you should be giving your support; not Nino.

Like mentioned, I think they'll use a more known Fire Emblem caster, especially one that's a lord IE Macaiah. Sure it's just light magic and staves, but light magic can be used in many, many ways.

They can use Light magic to heal the other players and remove status ailments...

You don't need a grade in Light to use healing abilities. :/
I was referring more to styles of attacks. Like, one can be a pillar of light. The other can be a straight-forward projectile ect.

Light Magic is pretty versatile really, and Nosferatu has become a light tome again, which I think could be an interesting move. Though if Sakurai was struggling, he could always pull a Ness and give Micaiah tomes she never actually could use. This should probably go in her own thread though.

As for Nino, while I have heard before that she is the most popular FE7 character, the game itself still isn't that popular amongst them. And the fact that she is not a main character and pretty minor even compared to other characters in the game (I don't think it's even necessary to recruit her except to play one of the gaiden levels) really doesn't help her chances.

With Micaiah around, there's little hope for Nino. If there's a GBA FE lord that has any chance, it would be Roy and Hector (who's arguably the most popular lord in the States, plus he appears in FE6). I wouldn't hld my breath though.

Isn't Pent already upgraded when you get him in the game? Meaning that Nino is a more powerful mage just based on potential? For instance, you raise her to level 20 and then upgrade her to her second form, and she would thus be more powerful than Pent?

Kind of like, agh, what's his name, the Cavalier who's already been upgraded to Knight when you get him. And he kind of sucks compared to your other Knights once you upgrade your Cavaliers. Especially if you used him (Marcus! that's the name) for too much fighting in the beginning. Effectively sapping XP from your potentially better fighters.

Therefore, Nino > Pent. At least in in-game, power terms, which I think is what you were referring to.

Nino has the best growth, but if I remember correctly you get her way too late into the game. She'd need to kill like, every enemy on the map to catch up by the final battle. And why take a character only slightly better than the original, when you could instead distribute that EXP among other more needing units?

Not all prepromotes have bad stats.

To confirm what I said earlier, you get Nino on chapter 26 or 28 and there are 30 chapters in all. So you basically have barely four chapters to level her. I don't think it's even possible to catch up to a leveled up Pent. Even if it was, everyone else would be losing 20+ levels.

I never said Pent had bad stats, and I admit I don't even remember what mission Nino comes in on in the game. But Marcus, Wallace, Hawkeye, Pent, Pent's wife's, and however many others, could be surpassed by their non-prepromoted counterparts.

But really debating about who's the best mage in the game is pretty silly. But I think it is safe to assume that Nino could and probably does have the best potential and/or best base stats. While Pent is probably in the best position (in terms of when he comes in the game, what his stats are when you've gotten him) to be your most powerful mage for the duration of the game.

Apples and oranges, I suppose.

(I also thought Nino was playable earlier in the game, and that her level and stats would carry over. But I don't really know.)

I don't know why, but I like her.

Maybe its the green hair or the fact that she carries a book to battle, but she seems okay.

I'm going to put her right behind Black Knight in my choice for the next FE character in Brawl.

I want her and Black Knight to be playable, and Ashnard to be AT if not a BC (Boss character)

Notice how I said, "want" and didn't make any predictions, because honestly? Both me and you have no clue who Sakurai will put in when it comes to FE characters.

All mages use books, Edward. Including Macaiah.

I guess it's wrong to say Pent is better. Just infinitely more practical.
