Hello Smashboards and PMBR.

Recently, I played M with all items on so I can entertain my casual players. One thing I never bothered to notice was the stage darkening whenever someone obtains a smash ball. Its very minor, but I find the darker look appealing, easier on the eyes, and partly nostalgic (memories of Sonic 2 with debug mode and night mode enabled).

At some point in its lifetime, could M get an option to use this as a form of Night Mode? If its even something people would be interested in. Just throwing it out there.

This makes me think of the "Dark Brawl" code for the game that actually makes it to where the lighting of the game is much darker than it normally is.

Was neat to use, though it could use some tweaking.

The Strongbad thread was trolls being trolls so it was locked.

The social thread became about circlejerking metaphors, 9/11 and spiders. I'm pretty sure the lock is temporary and just a way of telling posters not to go too crazy in these threads.

There are plenty of night time stage hacks on brawl vault. Battlefield, yoshi's story, smashville, hyrule 64: it's all there.

Although that is true you would not be able to change the stages back to day without going through the long process

With a night time mode you would be able to toggle it in-game

If by long you mean copy and pasting the stages folder (have a night time collection and separate daytime/default folder), then sure I guess. I think the pmbr has better things to do than fulfill every smasher's miscellaneous desire though. If there is already a code however, then it could be implemented into the special brawl mode, but again, the pmbr is a team with a specific goal, and there are other coders/hackers on the web.

I just have to say, I really like the idea of a Night Mode for P:M. It would change the dynamics somewhat and possibly make it easier on the eyes for long, night running tournaments.

Im sure they do have better things to do, but it's only a suggestion. And it sounds like a pretty valid request if you ask me, a lot of video games nowadays have night and day modes, and like sapphire dragon said its easier on the eyes

I'm well aware of what the PMBR is here to do. If my posting is such a disruption to them then i'm sure they will take care of it themselves.
I'm actually referring more towards lighting, shading, filters and possibly colors rather than background behavior, images, NPCs and other moving objects. I want to change the monitor's brightness and not just turn the background black. That's a loose example, but I think you get the jist of it. I presume this approach would be simpler, maybe even easier, to do than editing stages.

I honestly would be down to see a lot of Project M's signature purple for filters or recolored huds(purple damage meter instead of red? RAD!) or whatever is easiest on the eyes. Ultimately though, the Smash Ball darkened theme is good enough for me.
