Nice use for bombs.

I'm not sure if someone has already said this, but this small combo works quite well. When someone is running for you, I use a bomb backwards and grapple when they get near. If done right the bomb will go off when you have them in the grab and giving them 5% extra damage just from the bomb.

this won't work for most Samus users...if you ever come across one.
The greatest enemy is yourself.

But this is great for Sonic

Why would they need to shield anything?

I friendlied another Samus as MK yesterday who tried to do a retreating bomb. I dash grabbed him through the bomb, fthrew him and chased for an edgeguard and KO. The bomb 'sploded well behind me.

I played a DK earlier today. He's not exactly a fast character like MK. I tried to lay a retreating bomb (with the intention of finishing up my charge) and he managed to dash through the bomb and grab me before I even got the chance to start charging. I don't *think* it hit him but I'm not 100% sure - it doesn't matter. *If* it did hit him, cargo gives him SA frames so it didn't do anything but give him some damage. He ran off and back threw me for a stage spike.

Shielding doesn't really come into play when you're lagging and your only defense is set to a disappointingly long timer.

really depends on how the bombs are executed...which all samus' really need to work on...zair all the time is kind of getting predictable.

I use bombs as a second shield. People usually either try to jump over them (which gets them Fair to the face), or run through them (which gets them hit with an axe kick or Fsmash due to spacing). If they run up and shield, I drop another bom to eat away at the shield. If they hand back I toss a few homing missiles their way.

I haven't gotten any definite combos through bombs, but they're helping a lot with the mind games against opponents who have to get in close (MK especially).

Hmm it's pretty situational no doubt. As Paradigm said, vs a Meta that's running at you his dash grab gets him out of the way of the bomb. Using bombs to set up grabs is good, just probably better when your opponent is back pedaling, not when they're on the offensive.

Another thing tht comes into play here is WHEN you set the bombs. When using them, you need to lay them with the assumption that your opponent will try to approach on ground, no when they are already doing it. When I fight meta knight, I lay bombs in series with the assumption that he will try to dash through them, hence why I lay them about a second early. Normally he runs into them, and if they blow up before he reaches them, he still gets hit by the after-exlposion. Lets also not forget that if he does manage to dash past them you can either drop one where you are and stay there so that when he grabs you, it knocks him out of the grab, or you can drop one and DI towards him so that you end up behind him when he tries to dash grab. it works out pretty well.
