I'd say the chances of anyone from Newfoundland catching this thread in time for the tournament are slim, but it's worth a shot.

I am pleased to inform everyone that Lore Gaming will be hosting another Super Smash Brothers: Brawl Tournament on Saturday, November 15th.

This tournament is SBR Certified.

Rules:

Type: 2v2 (teams) and 1v1 (solo)!

Items: Items are set to "off" and "none".

Stock:: 3 stock

Time limit: 8 minutes

Characters: All are eligible for play. Counter picking characters and stages between matches is allowed (details below).

Your name: We would be appreciative if you had your "name" (the player name which can be made during character selection which has a limit of five letters) on during the tournament. We'd also appreciate for the 2v2 teams to have a team name prepared for registration(This makes it easier to input into the bracket system). We will hopefully be able to record matches during the tournament.

Brackets: Double Elimination (best 2 out of 3). Winner and loser’s bracket finals will be best 3 of 5. If you're not familiar with Double Elimination brackets I suggest following this link for more information:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-elimination.

Matches will be seeded.

Misc rules:
In the event that Bowser uses his Koopa Claw to suicide-kill his opponent when they are both on their last stock, the Bowser player is given the victory regardless of if the match goes to Sudden Death.

For other character's suicide attacks, the Sudden Death will be played. If a match goes to sudden death due to time running out, the victor will be decided by stock and percentage.

Stalling is banned. Note that running away in order to use projectile attacks is not stalling, while running off the stage and constantly re-grabbing the edge to kill time is. If you are found to be stalling by a tournament organizer, you will be given a game loss.

Stages:

First stage in every set will be random.

Random stage list that has a chance to start each set:

Battlefield
Final Destination
Smashville
Yoshi's Island
Castle Siege
Delfino
Lylat Cruise
Pokémon Stadium 1

Loser may counter-pick from the above list and any of these stages:

Brinstar
Corneria
Distant Planet
Frigate Orpheon
Green Hill Zone
Jungle Japes
Luigi's Mansion
Norfair
Pictochat
Pirate Ship
Pokémon Stadium 2
Rainbow Cruise
Halberd

Stages not listed will not be eligible for tournament play.

Counter-picking rules

Starting the set : Double-blind character selection can be called for the first match of a set.

In between your set matches: Loser of the first match will choose a stage to be played in the next match. Following the loser’s stage choice, the winner of the previous match will choose a character. After the winner chooses a character, the loser of the last match chooses a character and play commences. Also note: Port slob picks: On a player's counterpick, that player may opt to redo the port selection process with the player or team picking their port first.

Stages can only be picked once per set unless both players agree on it being repeated.

Doubles play
-Life Stealing is allowed
-Team attack: ON

Prizes (same for both tournaments): this is how it will be broken down, but may be changed pending turn-out.

First place: Half the tournament registration fees.
Second: Half of the remainder of first
Third: Half of the remainder of second
Fourth-fifth: (ideally) their money back

Etcetera:
Place (Pete's Place, Hatcher house), Date, Time, cost for entry, and our email is on the poster above!
Note: If you would like to enter both tournaments you will have to pay both registration costs. So, if you want to participate in both tournaments it would be 5$ for each tournament.

Food: There will be a 30-minute break between the two tournaments if you would like to order food. Because of our free venue they are stressing that we order from Chartwells catering service, which is relatively cheap, but you'd have to order from them for Pizza, etc.. Obviously no alcohol or drugs of any kind are permitted in or around the premises. You will be disqualified from the tournament, without refund, for any drug-use or alcohol in or around the premises.

Size of the tournament permitting, there will be additional rules for the matches laid out at each station.

As with most local tournament events, volunteers are welcomed and greatly appreciated to make it the best tournament it can be!

This is our second Brawl tournament since release and we’re really looking forward to some great matches!
