Newcomer on Smashboard

Hey everyone, I'm brand new to this, and would like some help. I play Smash on a regular basis, but playing against local friends is tough since I work graveyard shifts. I'm looking for people to smash against, tournaments to participate in, and looking to get my name out there.

But before I do that, I need a guide and a teacher to help me to get those battles and tournaments, since I'm brand new and I don't know all of what to do. Any help, whether it's big or small is appreciated.

Sup man, welcome aboard. As Cydane linked, you'll wanna check the respective characters forums to get better with your character, whom I'll assume is Samus. Interesting pick, honestly! She plays like a zoning captain falcon (or just like captain falcon back in 64). More or less, you'll improve with experience, so go ahead and try to get some games set up at NNID thread.
