i have never played melee in my life in fact i found out about it last week. since i have a wii i got brawl and i like and wanna get better.
i use marth and when i came here for tips i didnt understand some of the terms.
what do u mean by gimping, broken character or move eg. marth forward air is broken?.

and how do u short hop, wave dash and fox trot.
i use the wii mote and nunchuk as a controller.
i am good at getting the oppponents hp to a 100+ against lvl 4 cpu with around 20 damage done to me. but my aerial is kinda weak. like i jump over them and miss and when i try to knock them off i kinda fall myself so i just smash them away now. and can u give me some tips to juggle my opponents. when i throw them up they move to the side when they are falling so i cant hit them with a fair or uair.

all you need to know about marth:

gimping = kill at low percentages
broken = easily spammed and/or "cheap"

To short hop you tap the jump command briefly. You need to let go before your character leaves the ground. Wavedashing is not in Brawl. Foxtrotting is using only the starting dash animation to move. Basically you tap to the side repeatedly. Your speed is the same as holding the dash.

If you want to get better, play against humans, not cpus. Also, we have a video archive thread where you can find videos of other marth players. Watch them and learn. If you do those and have a good practice partner its possible to improve quickly.

Well, welcome to SWF! R3v3nant was right, it's better to play against humans, but I say after you get down the basics of fighting the CPU and beating lv 7 or 8. And it's not 100 hp, but 100%. Getting someone to 100 hp sounds like you're making them gain 100 hp... but I understand your misconception. With your air game, try to calm down and don't be so jumpy (I think that's your problem). Do you hit the attack button over and over again really fast to attack?

Ok. Well, I think you're overexcited. Also, don't land on top of the other character, but a little away from it, within Marth's blade range.
