New Yoshi Tech?

Been able to pull this off a couple of times, on rare occasions. Not really sure how it works. Never seen it before in tournament play. Any advice or information would be great.

It has something weird to do with using the up b within a frame or two after you initialize a double jump in a certain direction

Its just a plat dropped upb ledge cancelled to grabbing the ledge. Nothing new here.

Yeah its not anything new. The backwards momentum is from doing the upb backwards without jumping (while falling, or double jump cancel). We used to do this as kids and would shout "kobe" everytime we did it because Yoshi is shooting a fade away jumper.

Makes Yoshi look like a *****.

Right I get that but go ahead and try it, the majority of the time your double jump goes left and you can't grab edge

Not upb specific. If you perform an action in the first few frames of a backwards Yoshi jump (the kind that would normally turn you around), then you won't turn around. Not sure what the frame window is exactly.
