New way to play with the controller

Well, I just found a new way to play ssb64 online with the controller.
Online only, since you have to change the n64 input settings.
It feels pretty weird, but I'm actually a lot better than I would expect.

Before you start reading, I want you to be conscient that I do not post this because I want to change the way people play, but only for fun/entertainment.

So here are the changes of the input settings :

• L button swapped with Z button
• Digital Pad became Joystick

It's actually really fun, I was able to pull out some tight matchups vs JaimeHR with my Fox.

Here are some advantages :

• DI (DI is easier, since this is arrows, just like on keyboard)
• It doesn't use your Joystick for meaningless online matches
• If your joystick doesn't work well, you can play this way.
• Teleporting with characters such as Fox, Jigglypuff and Samus is easier.
• Fox is amazing

You can still switch whenever you want to, and it doesn't take time.

Here are some disadvantages :

• Tilts (Just like on keyboard, tilts can't be done w.o buffer, in my experience so far)
• Feels weird the first few times.
• Since you don't play with a joystick, the game is a lot less "curvy".
• Just like on keyboard, some things are really difficult, for example : Fast-falled Up-Air, or Up-Air while passing under a platform.

Try it out, and let me know what you think.
This might be a new way to play, for people who have a bad joystick and/or hard to switch from keyboard/melee to n64 controller.

Feel free to flame as usual.
Remember that I posted this so that you guys can try it out, I'm not asking for a permanent change or anything.

I play similar to Melee style, except I like to use the Digital Pad, despite having two controller sticks. I have this beauty below.

Just tried it. It's exactly as you said.

Pros:
DI is better
Dashing is easier
Pivoting is easier
Teleport is easier

Cons:
Tilts are harder
Uairs are harder to connect
Fastfall Uair is harder
Fall Through Platform Uair is harder
May not be the best idea for people who play both console and online(I'll stay with joystick for this very reason)

keyboard controls on a controller ?
i dont think ur sober
I may not sober but I agree with Fireblaster. You are using the controller with keyboard controls, since the main difference should be the control stick. You also basically listed pros/cons of the keyboard when listing pros/cons of using the controller this way.
It feels like a keyboard, but it feels a lot more like a n64 controller
It obviously feels more like a n64 controller because IT IS A N64 CONTROLLER.

This is one of the most important reason why I have posted this.
If someone has a crappy joystick, they can play this way.

Another important reason why I have posted this is for people to try it out and lulz about how weird it feels, but it's actually quite easy to play with.

This is exactly the same input as a keyboard. The only difference is that you use your thumbs to push buttons instead of your index fingers and whatnot.

You could use micros until you get used to it, but you'll probably get flamed for lolhax controls.

For keyboard users this has no use, because this has the same advantages and disadvantages as keyboard. You either play on keyboard, or start using a controller normally.
For controller users I see some use, saving your control stick is the most important reason.
