New Tournament Concept: Amiibo Doubles

I have had an idea ever since Amiibo was announced. Now we know multiple things about Amiibo, they can level up their stats, can learn from the player and other experiences, and you can set the custom moves for them. It is also said that they can be way harder than level 9 computers. Now here is an idea for the tournament scene. A doubles tournament, where there are two competitors and their partner Amiibos in a doubles match. Not only can you form new strategies with these Amiibos on how to work together, they learn and can be a viable partner. Nintendo representatives have said that you should think of these Amiibo figures as actual people in smash. They can be sparring partner, and enemy, or a partner in general. So would you guys see this as a new competitive concept separate from singles and doubles tournaments?

I think this is a cool idea and would make for an interesting/gimmicky thing like Falcon Round Robins. Though, I don't think that an Amiibo being lvl 50 would necessarily mean skill level. I think that the more you level it up the more that the initial stats of moves are raised. While the AI would get better to a degree I think that it would get much better imo. I think if the stats for moves are increased then I don't think that this would happen very often.

While this is an interesting concept that I too have thought about, I don't see it working well. It seems like it would be very unbalanced.

Why? Because of the stat changes? Why is everybody going to be so afraid of the items you can equip that changes stats? The Sakurai even said that it's going to be balanced by decreasing/increasing stats. It sounds like it's going to be like Kid Icarus Uprising and that is a pretty balanced game in online multiplayer. It's been flourishing in the competitive community for other games as well, pokemon has ev's, iv's, natures, types, moves and it is pretty balanced and has a flourishing competitive community. League of Legends has thousands of different builds and it has one of the biggest competitive communities in gaming. Why can't we change to make our competitive community prosper like League of Legends?

Dunno about it being a mainstay of tournaments, but it would certainly make a hilarious side event sort of thing every now and then.

Although I doubt this will be more than a potential side show at a tournament, I feel like Nintendo has missed open goal with not having an online mode like this in the game.

I would love to see this, and I'd definitely be interested in being a part of it. It'd be like Super Smash Man vs. Machine

Ammibo CPU battles will probably be more fun that fighting alongside your Amiibo, but who knows?

1v1. Ammiibo's only. Equipment and custom movesets on (of course!). All items on. All stages random select.
