Hi I am an aspiring smasher and here are a couple question:

A little info first: I play on project m, i play Mewtwo, sonic, and Ivysaur the most although i want to play Marth but I'm bad with him, and I'm looking to get into a competitive scene or just beat my friends.
  • How do I know if tourneys are near me? I looked at the event board but its just ordered by dates. Is there an easier way to find tourneys in my area.
  • Where can i get a list that shows you how to do the moves such as Uairs, Nairs, etc? I have not been able to find those moves and they seem pretty important.
  • This questions may seem silly, but how do I beat spammers? I have a couple of friends who will spam c-stick moves, or down-a on link, etc. Is there a good way to beat this?
  • What is the best way to practice when I don't have any friends around and what should i be practicing?
  • Any other additional info that you think will help me is welcomed!

Welcome to the forums, Nanrek!

- Take a look at the Tournament Listings forum. You can filter them by region.
- Uair = Up-Air; just perform the move by inputting ^ + A (in the air) or flick up on the C-Stick in the air. Nair = Neutral Air; just click the A button in the air, Bair = Back Air, Dair = Down Air, Fair = Forward Air
- Beating spammers really can just come down to making small adjustments. If you know something is coming, you'll be better off preparing for it. For example, the Link player is about to use D-Air...move out the way, punish the landing lag. Same can kind of go for Smashes since they typically have a good deal of landing lag as well.
- Practice tips...LV 3 and LV 7 CPUs are typically the best, mainly to get familiar with your character (LV3) and to see what combos could work (LV7). That was somewhat of a rough explanation, but that's about it really aside from practicing tech skill.
- For additional and great help, I'd recommend checking out the beginner's guide for competitive Smash, there's plenty to learn.

Hope all that helps at least a little bit :)
