I very recently picked up Bowser and I was wondering what the basics of the character would be. Anything from tech to combos to match ups or any kind of advice is greatly appreciated.

Odds_ has an excellent guide on where to start as Bowser https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzY...annotation_id=annotation_1880670053#t=2m59.3s
for now it's only two parts and will get updated in the future

Here's a brief showcase of that show's a visual of what Bowser is capable of in PM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbTZl-VGfJs

All you need to do as Bowser is :GCU::GCB:

lol, but really though, your question is really broad, but the best advice I can give you is to bait out moves and punish them with Bowser accordingly

-You can cancel grounded down b into a jump
-Using fire breath just before landing is instant
-His crouch cancel has light armor
-Most of his attacks do a lot of shield damage
-When you grab the ledge, immediately jump (don't drop) and wavedash. You will land on the stage very quickly and will have a few i-frames
-Short hop off the stage while using Dair is a very effective edgeguard against some characters. Don't fastfall or use it from the ledge or you won't be able to recover
-Up B has 4 i-frames starting on the first frame. If you have a read and very good timing, you can use this to counter a grab
-You have light armor while charging Up Smash. Use this if they use a multi hit move from above, releasing the smash as soon as they hit the ground.
-Don't fight link
Hope this helps :)

Thanks! I watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbTZl-VGfJs <--that video and I couldn't figure out how the player was doing the wavedash onto stage, so thanks a lot for this help!
From the ledge, he was doing a perfect waveland

The inputs for this, from holding ledge, are to press down to fall, jump up and air dodge at a 90 degree angle towards the stage
:GCD::GCY:(:GCL::GCLT:)

I believe you only have a 1 frame window to do this, but the easiest way to know when to do it is to watch Bowser's feet and as his feet barely touch the ground, input the waveland

This technique can be done anywhere on the stage as demonstrated in the video
