Hi there.
Pikachu has always been noted as a fast character with huge mix up options. In brawl Pikachu was able to jump cancel UpB when landing on a surface giving the player large options for approach.
This however is not possible in smash 4...Till now.
Instead of using jump to cancel the quick attack we now can use platforms. By doing so we enter an aerial state giving us endless options. To perform you simply UpB diagonally down towards the ground while in the air and slide off the edge of the stage/platform. You then cancel the quick attack animation and enter a lagless aerial state. This can be performed with the first or second quick attack, and is also not interrupted by going through your opponent.
Possible Applications:
- Edge guard mix up options with aerial's and special moves
- plat form punishes and approaches with follow up aerials strings
- approach mix up towards grounded opponent
- escape and mobility
- styling like Anther's Brawl Pika
It takes a little while to get use to and it is more to do with spacing then timing. I was able to come up with this little combo after some practice but i feel its only the beginning. I encourage everyone to try this out and come up with other possibilities.
