After choosing your character that character has to fight enemies from the game they came from in a row withought getting healed (Villains would fight heroes or the heroes friends). None of the characters you fight would be actual playable characters but they would instead be just beefed up clones of playable characters. I'll use the Zelda franchise as an example. Say you choose Link you would then fight villain characters like Onox, Veran and Zant. Say you choose Ganondorf you would then fight the six sages. What do you think?

FAR too much extra coding for not enough benefit.

But that's just my opinion, I could be wrong...

The character you fight would just be statistically better clones of already made characters so I don't think it's asking that much.
You can wrap a skin to a wireframe, but you can't make it stick.

In other words, coding requires much more than just number crunching.

I seriously have no idea what your talking about. My guess is your saying it would take to much time and money to make all of those characters even if they are clones. Am I right or am I completely off?

Well, that's part of it. It'd take a lot of time to make the skins for the characters. Then you'd have to get the skin to wrap to the wireframe. Then you'd have to do collision detection unique for each skin. Then you'd have to individually buff/nerf the appropriate skills, change movement properties, etc. Then you'd have to code the storyline for each character. And at least a half dozen other things that I've missed.

And when you consider that it's highly likely that we're talking about 40+ characters, even if you REPEAT lines, it's still too much work.

Instead of making 5-ish characters for each franchise, they should just make you fight all the major villans no-matter what character you pick.
You fight Giga Bowser, Ganon, Ridley, Andross, etc. ending in Master Hand

It would be cooler, and there'd be fewer characters to program.

Good idea if we were talking about SSBM, but with SSBB's supposedly more robust single-player modes, it'd just end up being a rehash.

hopefully the single player mode have some goal to acheive like getting the trophies in melee. maybe the trophies will make a return ...
