Smash Rookie
Hey, just wanted to introduce myself. I haven’t played Smash in years and recently had a blast playing it at a local arcade bar here in Orlando (Player1). I got my butt kicked on the Wii U but I did very well on N64 Smash. I want to get into the competitive scene and a google search led me here.
Smash64: I love N64 Kirby. N64 Smash is where I have the most experience.
Melee: Played this quite a lot with friends but never at a competitive level. Looking to get into this.
Project M: Never played.
Wii U: Played once, used Diddy Kong, got destroyed.
I want to attend tournaments of course, network, and participate in some. I heard there is a pretty active Smash scene in and around Orlando. I joined the Smash boards to network with other smashers, get better at the game, and enjoy playing Smash with like minded people.
I am looking to get into Melee. I saw the cube on Ebay for 50 bucks. Melee trends at $60.00 (wow).
I heard that Project M is the “Melee” version of Brawl but I am not sure how to get into that since I don’t have a Wii and I have no idea how to install project M. I do want to get into Project M though, and eventually Wii U Smash when I can afford it.
Outside of Smash I hit the gym a lot, hike, play civilization 4, write poetry, short stories, blog posts, debate politics, and do random things around Orlando.
Questions: What are the spots in Orlando where people play Smash (all I know about is Player1)?
Anyone in East Orlando? I am about 15 minutes from UCF. I am sure there is a Smash scene over there.
What is a good beginner Melee character? When I played Melee I used Mario a lot but after seeing the power of Marth and Fox I figure I would join the heard and learn those guys.
Glad I found this place.
