Brawl's launch is less than a week away in North America, and Smash Boards is pulling out all the stops in anticipation of its release.

First, you'll notice that our selection of Brawl rooms has been massively expanded. With the game's North American release so close, we've added rooms for tactical discussion, online discussion, single player modes, and videos and other media. Over the next couple days our mod team will be working to move as many threads that need to be moved as possible into their new homes, but you can help them out in this by editing your thread's title to catch their attention. Please don't PM a mod asking for your thread to be moved. We'll try to get to it, but there are a lot to go through, and it's easier to tag your thread than it is for us to read through hundreds of PMs.

We've also added a room in Smash Tournaments for online tournament listings. This room functions almost the same way as Tournament Listings, but (obviously) is for online tournaments. We've decided to get the ball rolling by teaming up with Wifi Wars and hosting an online tournament of our own: Smash Wars. The event takes place on March 29th and 30th (ample time for you to practice, and for us to develop a solid ruleset), and we expect it to be massive--be sure to register now to claim your spot. For more information about Smash Wars, check out the official thread in Online Tournament Listings. There's absolutely no cost to participate, and there are some very cool prizes up for grabs. Check it out.

Finally, as most of you are (hopefully) aware, SWF has an IRC channel. And with Brawl launching on Sunday at midnight (and many users heading out to midnight launch events on Saturday night), we thought we would help kick off your weekend right with a special Smash Trivia session this Friday night at 10:00 PM EST. We'll be asking questions relating to the characters, stages, and just about anything else that makes an appearance in Brawl. The winner of Smash Trivia will win a yearlong premium membership, so start brushing up on your Nintendo history now.

If you already have an IRC client installed on your computer (such as mIRC, Colloquy, or xchat), you can head on over to:

Server

irc.globalgamers.net

Channel

#smashboards

If you don't have an IRC client installed, don't worry. You can still
join using the Global Gamers webchat. Be sure to show up early for trivia to claim your name and make sure you don't have any problems connecting. But you don't have to wait, either--the Smash Boards IRC channel is open 24/7, so feel free to pop in anytime and talk it up with your fellow Smashers.

As always, if you have any questions about anything I mentioned, post about it in Announcements Discussion or send me a PM. See you around the boards!
