I've been pondering this for a while and decided to finally put up a post.
How viable is meteor smashing for Samus in brawl? I've notice that when i get it to connect my opponent goes straight down. I'm not sure if there's a meteor recovery, as far as i can tell, there isn't one in the sense there was in Melee. But then there is the new dodging system and the new sweet spot system. So I put it out to the community: How useful do you think is Samus Dair for the kill? Feel free to talk about it's use in combos as well.

Samus' range for dair has increased, but it's somewhat hard to land. I blame the physics. Anyways, I'm sure it's just a learning curve. Like Samus's dair in ssb64 to melee. Dair came out instantly in ssb64, and was a lot slower in melee. However, that didn't take away it's usefulness. It was a great move in melee.

For brawl, landing meteors will be very important. Because of the amazing recoveries present, spiking will be vital for speeding up matches. Dair is definetly not a bad move. Not a lot of characters have good meteors, so Samus must be lucky to have one with good range and a high chance of spiking.

Dair is one of my bread and butter moves. Learn to play with it and when you send your opponent even a bit off the stage, meteor that sucker for the kill.

Okay, I spent a day where I pretty much ONLY spike for the kill. Samus has a pretty godly spike. Not as nice as Ness' but pretty darn sweet. I wish I had something to record videos with so I could upload my matches.

If you have an SD card, I'm pretty sure you can take replays that you save on Brawl and put them on your computer. Don't digital cameras come with SD cards? Mine did.

Anyway, I think Samus's dair is really good in Brawl. I haven't seen anyone use a meteor cancel when I've hit with it, so I think either meteor canceling has been removed or Samus's dair is a spike. Either way, it's awesome.

Don'g spam dairs, because the range and hitbox of it is very small. But when you get the chance use it as it a very good KO move when it hits.

There's no such thing as meteor cancelling in brawl. The hitstun is simply SO low, it seems like it's meteor cancelling.

@above: Dair's range has been improved from melee. It's effective in the air, but you have to switch things up or else you're just asking to be shield grabbed.

When playing with one of my friends (items on, because sometimes the randomness is fun), he got a smash ball as Marth (boo!) over an open space, we both had one life left and I knew that if I let him use his final smash there would be no way to recover.

What I ended up doing, because I was running for the smash ball as well, I jumped into the air and zair'd him, and while he was stunned I hit him with a dair straight down off of Smashville.

Most.... satisfying kill.... EVER!

Flick up and down on the control stick and c-stick respectively (Tap Jump: ON, of course). Doing this automatically makes you perform a SH dair. Useful for setting up combos/spikes. Running off the stage to dair is also useful. Make sure you use dair as soon as you can so you don't flub your recovery. Ledgehop dair can be used, onto stage or for edgeguarding purposes. Following up depends on DI and opponent's weight/damage so you're on your own from there.

Personally i only use the Dair if I'm sure its going to hit. Mainly on characters that have lag on their third jump or are barely coming out of their second jump.
